I don't know anything about this particular emitter, but I like throwy emitters so I voted for the first one.

No problem. I’m currently in the process of getting some more datasheets.

Think the GT-FC40, but smaller and lower power

Datasheets are in for each LED

GT FC30

GT FC20

Note: this is just a generic datasheet for the generic LED properties.

No worries, they will make R9080 LEDs for the final batch :stuck_out_tongue:

How would both options compare to the FC-40 for output and throw? If the 30 is at least as throwy/throwier than the 40, it definitely gets my vote. A good middle ground?

@Kakapo, the FC30 is throwier than the FC40, and the FC20 is throwier than the FC30.

FC30 then. A good midpoint.

Personally I’d stick these in some headlamps that are gathering dust (to replace XM L2). And I generally like wider beams more. So that would be a vote for the FC30. But I do have some throwers with non standard diameter 5050 mcpcbs from before my BLF days (looking at you Astrolux… ). FC20 would probably work better in those, but not exactly a prio.

FC-30 because the efficiency of the FC-40 is already not very good despite the huge LES (B35A is more efficient up to 18~20W with a LES half the size), a small LES (no details in the datasheets about the exact size of each) will be too costly.

You have got a good point.

I’ll leave the poll running in the weekend and then decided via that, although I already have a bias for the FC30 because of you.

I’m with thefreeman on this 100%.

On the data sheets it shows them both to be the same size die (dia 4.09mm if a circle is drawn around them) is that not the case? These are both 5050 12V base?

@mcflies, the LEDs themselves larger on the FC30.

So what do these offer over the 519A?

These are 3V and 5050, and a drop-in replacement for LEDs like XM-L2 and SST-40. Currently the only equivalent high CRI option is a 2700K or 3000K XM-L2.

@stephenk 3/6V 5050, domeless, high throw, high CRI >3000k.

But yeah, it makes definitive sense as to why most people would pick the FC30.

Well, unless the vote changes a lot during the weekend, I think the FC30 will be the one

It has been decided: we will get the GT FC30
