The batteries that are included in the package arenā€™t actually button tops. Theyā€™re flat tops with a small copper (?) Disk soldered on.not sure what type of 21700 they are. they have a dark grey wrap and say ā€œ21700hp 3.7v 3000mah 20cā€. They came pretty low charge so theyā€™re on the charger now.

i can test the lvp on this light next week with a PS at work.

Yeah Iā€™m going to use a bench top power supply and see how low I can drop the voltage. Hopefully itā€™s simple and doesnā€™t damage anything. Also hopefully this picture of the battery uploads right. If not hereā€™s the link

Holy crap! Has anyone confirmed this light actually has temperature control?it gets too hot to hold and fast! Love the amount of light but Iā€™m going to need gloves the next time I use it.

@madcrisis, the temperature control does work, but I think I saw one of TacGrizā€™s post and the temperature at which the flashlight throttles is rather high.

To be honest though, this was not unexpected: youā€™re consuming about 200W+ on turbo, which mean passive cooling in this form factor is out of the question.

NS59v1 was a HUGE hit at the Texas Flashlight Club meeting tonight. It blew everything else we had (MF01S, MF01X, X50 CRI) out of the water.

Iā€™m using P42Aā€™s I salvaged from a dead X50 battery pack right now. Iā€™m getting 22,000lm @ turn-on with those. Neal is sending me some of his ā€œspecialā€ batteries that will allegedly fix the fact that my sample does not have LVP. Iā€™ll measure output with those too.

And vice versa, since one is 1/4 the price of the other. Here are beamshots if you want to take a look.

These really donā€™t capture just how wide and bright the spill is from NS59v1. Thatā€™s the most impressive thing about it.

Well maybe, but for the price? No way. I have one hopefully coming for review (if Neal gets around to sending it). On paper, this could be the most powerful affordable flashlight ever. 28,000 Lumens for under $100 is insane. I actually believe Nightwatch Lumen numbersā€¦the NI03 I tested got super close to advertised, off by 150 lumens and I think this will get close to 25,000 on 30ts.

Since this light uses an extension tube, Iā€™m wondering if the driver could take more than 2x 21700 batteries? As it would make for a great long run time baton.

@glenn7, Iā€™m sure it could take more cells. However, youā€™d have to make your own parallel pack if you do not want to melt the driver lmao.

Why would making my own parallel pack stop the driver melting? I would just use a spacer or solder blobs between cells if the driver could take the voltage.
So I guess what Iā€™m asking is what is the maximum voltage that the driver can take.
BTW Iā€™m quite impressed with this light - a massive bang for your buck! I have had 2x Nightwatch NI40 SBT90 Gen2 (sold) - the switch on the NS59v1 is half as stiff and a much better feel IMO with a loud crisp click with no guess work compared to the NI40.
I donā€™t think there is a better light in this class out there for the price, might do some beam shots to compare this to the Manker MK38 SFT40 for referenceā€¦.

Next is just for a bit of fun - my old custom X-led that has 30 x HXP70.2 and does 50,000 lumens straight for 40min, then you can change out the Ryobi battery over and over. It has a really wide beam that can light up everything at an angle of 200 degrees, it has a switch to make the beam narrow for throw or wide for an area light it also has a dimmer knob and 2 speed fan.
