Yeah Iā€™m going to use a bench top power supply and see how low I can drop the voltage. Hopefully itā€™s simple and doesnā€™t damage anything. Also hopefully this picture of the battery uploads right. If not hereā€™s the link

Ho, sorry, Iā€™ve forget itā€™s you who have say he can try with external power supply.
Normaly no, just open the circuit

Thankā€™s for sharing

Strange ā€œcustomā€, If they works :innocent:
Never see button top solder in this way.
HP remember Nitecore classification cell, same cell with same capacity with various head, HP/HPI ā€¦.

Holy crap! Has anyone confirmed this light actually has temperature control?it gets too hot to hold and fast! Love the amount of light but Iā€™m going to need gloves the next time I use it.

@madcrisis, the temperature control does work, but I think I saw one of TacGrizā€™s post and the temperature at which the flashlight throttles is rather high.

To be honest though, this was not unexpected: youā€™re consuming about 200W+ on turbo, which mean passive cooling in this form factor is out of the question.

Lishen 21700HP

NS59v1 was a HUGE hit at the Texas Flashlight Club meeting tonight. It blew everything else we had (MF01S, MF01X, X50 CRI) out of the water.

Cant wait to get mine! :sunglasses: What cells were you using?

To be fair, Iā€™m sure the X50 CRI has a rather significant advantage over the NS59v1 :stuck_out_tongue:

Iā€™m using P42Aā€™s I salvaged from a dead X50 battery pack right now. Iā€™m getting 22,000lm @ turn-on with those. Neal is sending me some of his ā€œspecialā€ batteries that will allegedly fix the fact that my sample does not have LVP. Iā€™ll measure output with those too.

And vice versa, since one is 1/4 the price of the other. Here are beamshots if you want to take a look.

NS59v1 & X50 CRI

MF01S 6500K & MF01X

These really donā€™t capture just how wide and bright the spill is from NS59v1. Thatā€™s the most impressive thing about it.

Well maybe, but for the price? No way. I have one hopefully coming for review (if Neal gets around to sending it). On paper, this could be the most powerful affordable flashlight ever. 28,000 Lumens for under $100 is insane. I actually believe Nightwatch Lumen numbersā€¦the NI03 I tested got super close to advertised, off by 150 lumens and I think this will get close to 25,000 on 30ts.

Since this light uses an extension tube, Iā€™m wondering if the driver could take more than 2x 21700 batteries? As it would make for a great long run time baton.

@glenn7, Iā€™m sure it could take more cells. However, youā€™d have to make your own parallel pack if you do not want to melt the driver lmao.

Why would making my own parallel pack stop the driver melting? I would just use a spacer or solder blobs between cells if the driver could take the voltage.
So I guess what Iā€™m asking is what is the maximum voltage that the driver can take.
BTW Iā€™m quite impressed with this light - a massive bang for your buck! I have had 2x Nightwatch NI40 SBT90 Gen2 (sold) - the switch on the NS59v1 is half as stiff and a much better feel IMO with a loud crisp click with no guess work compared to the NI40.
I donā€™t think there is a better light in this class out there for the price, might do some beam shots to compare this to the Manker MK38 SFT40 for referenceā€¦.

OK did some beam shots of a couple of lights.

Shots taken at 2x zoom on iPhone 12 pro max trees on the right are at 70 meters (or 2755.91 inches :0)
First tower is 250 meters, tower at the top of the hill is 520 meters.
First is the NS59v1-Turbo

Next is the Manker MK38 SFT40 - Turbo

Next is just for a bit of fun - my old custom X-led that has 30 x HXP70.2 and does 50,000 lumens straight for 40min, then you can change out the Ryobi battery over and over. It has a really wide beam that can light up everything at an angle of 200 degrees, it has a switch to make the beam narrow for throw or wide for an area light it also has a dimmer knob and 2 speed fan.

X-led with throw turned on.

30 XHP70.2??? HOLY COW!

Those tabs though, SHEESH!

Anyway great beam shots, that home made xhp70.2 looks epic!

I know, right.

That's about two to three times as many tabs as I usually have open.

hahaha yes Iā€™m the tab king, lots of cross referencing and unfinished reading also some maybe-purchases happeningā€¦ā€¦ which makes it easier on a 49ā€™ screen - actually I mostly split viewing into 2, watch pay-tv on half and have my million tab browser on the other half.

Sorry for the ramble but I am quite proud of this light and every time I bring it out, most people say WOW! thatā€™s stupidly bright then why do you need such a bright? (me slapping my head) So you guys are the only people that get it.

Yes the Xled light is a beast, I bought the very first light with this amount of power from the company that makes them (not cheap) They were using a different less powerful led (canā€™t remember) so I suggested they use the HXP70.2 - and they did! they said they could make it go up to maybe 100,000 lumens, I choose 50,000 lumens because I wanted efficiency and runtime without too much heat, rather than shear output.

It has a tripod mount for an area light (which I wanted) the optics that they used has a mix of throw and flood but as they stick out the front, they shine backwards in your face hence the 200ā€™ beam - I asked if they could make a shroud to cover the sides to stop side glare, they said they would make me one but it never happened so I made my own by bending a strip of alu and gaff taped it on to try - havenā€™t done anymore as it protects the optics and stops side glare and it just works.

I bought it in 2015 - by selling a kidney on ebay :0)
Iā€™d like to get it updated to their new throw optic and SBT90.2 but I only have one kidney left - Hmm I do have 2 lungsā€¦. If anyone is interested I think they are in the Netherlands and this is their website

Anyway the SN90.1 holds itā€™s own for itā€™s size, itā€™s a comfortable to hold size, just when you think these leds arenā€™t getting any brighterā€¦.boom! they do - maybe not so much brighter but the lux/intensity they are doing is leaping ahead.

Great light!!! Unlike a soda can type of light, it fits in my hand nicely, is well balanced, and has a simple UI. Very impressive flood with a little bit of a throw too.

Thanks again Freeme!!!

Do you plan on reviewing it?
