Romisen RC-I3 goes into strobe mode when battery is low

Hello all,

Wanted to mention some rather strange behavior with my new Romisen RC-I3, I wonder if anyone has an explanation. In a runtime test I did, as the alkaline battery starts to drain, it seems to maintain a fairly linear light output on low mode. But when the battery becomes quite depleted, it switches into the strobe mode and blinks brightly. I can not switch it out of the strobe mode with a dead battery. Yet, the strobe is surprisingly very bright for running on a dead battery. What would be the explanation for this?

Thanks for the tips!

At a guess, some sort of capacitor sucking out enough charge, discharging and then starting again. This is just a guess though. Certainly lets you know it wants feeding.

Hmm, could be that it's not actually the strobe mode, but rather a capacitor charging and discharging.

I know when the cells are low in my RC-N3 that it will slowly strobe.....but it is not as bright as you say. I took it as an indication that the light wants and need fresh cells.
