Convoy T4

ah thats a shame  2 batteries should be used protected also most unprotected are flat tops so means no contact……

there are top-batteries without protection board

yes ok but i prefer not use non-protected in pairs.

You can try with this protected batteries http://www.xtar.cc/product/XTAR-14500-800mAh-Battery-66.html
They are not longer than AA alkaline or NiMH batteries and have solid performance.
I purchase it from ebay for about 6 $ for one.

On the matter of lithium primaries - I have a few Utorch UT-01’s that I’m very fond of, and they also won’t accept FRESH lithium primaries. My work-around is to run the cells for 10 or 15 seconds in another light to “blow the foam off the beer”, after which they run fine in the UT-01. I have an old Fenix light that I have to use the same trick with.

It seems like that initial 1.8 v is a spike that very quickly reduces itself to 1.5 or 1.6v for the remaining 99.9% of the cells capacity. I don’t know if that would work with the T4, but it might be worth a try.

how long would be ‘too long’?

would something like this Page Not Found - Aliexpress.com at 52mm be too long?

how about something like this (seems to be without protection but they don’t have length listed) Page Not Found - Aliexpress.com ?

52mm is little long,
the second link is invalid

Simon - any update as to when the arc white (or grayish white) version will be available?

weird. second link works for me. there is Soshine 14500 900mah button-top battery without protection.

kinda like this http://www.soshine.com.cn/a679.aspx and seems to be listed at 50mm.

would 50-51mm be the sweet spot for battery since 52mm is too long?

Around May 20th.

I recommend using a standard length battery, 52mm might work, but it will be very tight.

It’s May 20th. My wallet is ready!

well, it is May 24th and no white version available (yet?) ;(

i am waiting for grey version to be delivered (with lh351d 2700k) and i would love to get while version + 519a

It’s May 27th. My wallet is ready!

Almost there !!!

So, while I’m waiting for the MAO version to come out, is there a clear-cut best emitter for this light (especially high CRI versions from 4500K to 5000K? Floody lights (or lights that I can make a bit floody with DC-fix) with that CCT range and 90+ CRI seems to be my jam.)

Emitter choices are shown here across the bottom: Convoy T4 emitter choices - Album on Imgur

I like the 5000K LH351Ds in my Sofirn SP36. I know that the 219B 4500K is well-regarded by many, but is a bit rosy-tinted and dimmer than the rest. The newer 519A 4500K is supposed to be really good as well, but I don’t have any lights with it yet, so I can’t compare.

Which would you (or did you) get?

I’d get the 4000k SST-20, since small lights like these need the most throw possible.

MAO T4 is ready ,
But there has been a delay in the production of the flashlight gift box, and it will take another week.

I have the LH351D 5000K and really like it. The beam is pretty neutral, and the green AR coated lens definitely reduces the typical greenish hue of this emitter. When compared side by side with my SP10 PRO with the same die, the T4 hotspot appears to be much closer to bbl.

Looking forward to it!
