BlueSwordM LED Group Buy 3: a 3V 5050 domeless Ra9070 4000-4500k LED, the perfect XM-L2/SST-40 (UPDATE 2: Something new!)

Well then, these big emitter companies have just gotten a bit to big for their britches, haven’t they. :slight_smile:

I’m not in for a million…much as I might like to.

Anyway, some color information about the other LED:

Man, it’d be so nice if it had lower thermal resistance :confused:

Some more pictures:

Currently in the process of getting a close up picture of the whole LED so we can estimate the LES.

Dude...!

It’s not a very high res picture, but measuring it in CAD shows between 1.35mm sq and 1.8mm sq, depending on whether it is measured from the fuzzy part of the outline of the phosphor or the more solid part.

Slurp

The manufacturer and our contact is really dedicated, god damn :slight_smile:

They don’t know the LES of their own LED so you have to ask high res pictures to estimate it ? Lol

I got this using webplotdigitizer : 1.53x1.17 = 1.79mm2

SST-20 is 2mm2 I think ? so it’s quite similar, no dome, but probably lower current handling as SST-20 thermal resistance is 1.6C/W

That’s something that’s really strange about a lot of manufacturers that I’ve dealt with outside of Getiand and Rayten.
LES stuff doesn’t seem to be something they put in the datasheets lmao.

How come they can’t give me every detail possible about the physical parameters of the LED?

Anyway, with the amount of money I would need to invest to and the rather high thermal resistance, I’m not sure we should go with this LED, even though it looks a lot more… interesting than the Rayten LED (Ra9580 and much smaller single LES).

With the new picture I get 1.95mm sq.

So 2mm2. About as small as the SST-20, but domeless.

If only it had much lower thermal resistance and was cheaper, because as it stands, this one costs a lot more than 2$US, even in bulk lmao.

So, fogofwar will test the LED next week:
“Ah I haven’t had time this week. I’ll try next week”

I’m patient, but hopeful :slight_smile:

Anyway, I have an idea about the other LED. We won’t be doing a group buy for it, but after the Rayten GB ends, I think we’ll be able to do something else :stuck_out_tongue:

Holy...from XHP50 gen1 design to super CRi thrower...WOW

Yeah, but I’m not going to get this one, especially not for the GB.

It would increase prices considerably :stuck_out_tongue:

Ahh ok... I guess i had to read all previous posts before posting LOOOL

You misinterpreted me a bit. I just contacted the guy and will get samples shipped to me next week. I’m quite slow so it’s probably at least another week or two before any test results. Right now, I don’t have any extra MCPCBs, drivers, or hosts so I need to get those as well.

Oh OK OK.

I misunderstood :stuck_out_tongue:

I think the lumens are rated at 1A.

Great work Bluesword, can’t believe you’re actually getting an LED built.
I’ll buy 10 just as a token to support what you’re doing.

@Marc E, thank you.

@fogofwar, very nice.

Is it an impression or do the dies look way closer than in the datasheet?
