New Olight i5T Plus with Color Temp Options

I just got the email about the i5T Plus from Olight. It is available in their regular knurling or this pebble texture. They offer three options for color temperature but curiously, they are offered in 1000K ranges:

WW: 2700-3700K
NW: 4000-5000K
CW: 5700-6700K

What’s up with these wide ranges? I don’t see anything about the LED or CRI.

Also curiously, the lighting levels for the modes are given as 550~300~55 lumens with run times of 3 + 30 + 130 minutes on high, and 15 lumens for 54 hours on low. This could be a reading comprehension fail on my part, but I don’t understand exactly what that means. Are there three different high modes, plus a low mode, for four total modes? (Burning out a pair of AAA batteries in three minutes at 550 lumens seems nuts.) I don’t see anything about mode order or whether it has mode memory.

Olight lists their runtimes for individual portions of the modes that will step down for thermal regulation. So what that means is, when turning on the light on high and leaving it on consistently, it will run at 550 lumens for three minutes, then continue to run at 300 lumens for 30 minutes before finally stepping down to 55 lumens for another 130 minutes. Low mode is always 15 lumens for the entire time it’s turned on, for a straight 54 hours.

Still Olight though.

wow they finally offer warm tints.

I wish they’d give more information on the LED they’re using, all it says is “Ra>70; High Performance Cool White LED (5700K~6700K), High Performance Neutral White LED (4000K~5000K), High Performance Warm White LED (2700K~3700K)”

So does the “Ra>70” apply to all of the emitters? Pretty sucky if it does.

Still low CRI. So they’ve caught up with where Convoy was 7 years ago!

That was my thought exactly stephenk...

Now when we have super powerful High CRI emitters, Olight changed temperature only...

Well i guess if they go high cri there goes their famous driver efficiency. Again nothing new from Olight

It’s a shame. Olight does a lot of cool stuff and their products would appeal to me if they offered better emitter choices.

Maybe I’ve been spoiled by Convoy. I wish that every light would have a pretty tint. Lighting up the darkness is one thing. Showing what was in the darkness is better.
