Astrolux/Bangood strike again! MF01X Fail - Customer Service Fail.

Yes, I paid through Paypal (thank heavens!) so I should be able to reclaim through them.

they need step up their QA… but im always worried when they produce lights over 100$ but the quality is not worth the price… it was better when they offered cheaper lights they shouldnt compete with the premium brands if they cant offer decent quality for what u pay.

This light should be recalled. Its a disaster.

it seems lately all their new light models have serious quality issues… rushed lights to get a quick buck isnt how u do business 2022…

Yes, agree. Long live Convoy. Also Sofirn and Wurkkos.

A follow-up on my woes with BG; they pulled thru. Wednesday (18th May) got my driver. Never got any info or tracking. I had put this chaotic exchange with their CS aside – just too frustrating.

Using the CPost track number (yes, it was registered), the item was received on May 8th at the Chinese collecting station. So, net 10 days of transit (Ltian).

Being cordial, I returned a thank-you to Lynne; also remarking the item never showed in my BG account. Her response; “resent item as a part doesn’t show”. Finally acknowledging special order doesn’t fit into their accountability protocols.

From an after-perspective, BangGood is a general merchandise store, much akin to Sears. They mess with all kinds of people, some sincere, others less. As to protect their sales, typical denial of responsibility or re-direct to some after-sales warehouse (this driver was bagged from such in Germany).

@ Thermolumo: I have a few Astrolux lights. One has a driver problem. the other 2 are fine. And more so as the quality is quite good (mind you, my collection are the ‘budget’ lights). Just tonight had a look-over with an EC01 and many features for a $40 light (SS bezel, lighted switch, Anduril, onboard charging, high output & compact,). So, perhaps you may eventually forgive BG and try another Astrolux. I didn’t get what their discourse was with a faulty light, only 7 days after reception.

I just an Astrolux stop working, too.

I never use banggood anymore. Horrible company. Makes aliexpress look like a champ, which is sad.

I pre-ordered one of these flashlights, too. Never again.

The person who created the hanklight subreddit and the 1lumen person both gave this thing a positive review. I don’t know if they were bribed with money/free stuff but I’m never trusting them or mateminco/astrolux/banggood again.

People; learn to give proper critical insight.

If a light fails, explain the circumstances, the model and any back story (did you try CS?). Also, perhaps give the failure rate of any particular manufacturer of your collection.

Hypercritical condonation is over-reaction. Sure it’s a deception when a light goes dark but stay objective. Bashing isn’t giving any solutions to your dilemma.

Still didn’t have a follow thru from OP – why would BG not honour any warranty after 7 days?

I haven't ordered from BG for a while, but I haven't had any serious problems with them.

I had some minor problems with an order or two, but their customer service made everything right, so I'll gladly order from Banggood again if they have something I want.

I don't call that review 'positive' to be honest. Did you read the full review? https://1lumen.com/review/astrolux-mf01x/

And why would you never trust us?

What's in the review, from all the measurements we've done, that you don't trust...

Are the lumen measurements fake?

Are the candela measurements fake?

Is the runtime fake?

What did we hide?

Please elaborate

Ah, I see you are the same person from another thread...also talking about the MF01X... I am still waiting for your answer there as well: https://budgetlightforum.com/t/-/69726/12

I haven’t used Banggood much since the HL01 group buy. it was just a load of nonsense from Bang Good. From demanding money for expedited shipping after paying a month in advanced or issuing poor fitting parts and never solving the issue. Not something we’d have to deal with from a company like Emisar. They are very hit and miss. Sometimes they bring out fantastic lights like FT03 SST40 though.

Yeah, Convoy, Kaidomain, Sofirn and Emisar are my go to for flashlight stuff.

Here is the original email I got from Banggood when I told them the light arrived defective:

Dear Customer,

Please accept our apology for the inconvenience you have had so far.

According to our 7 Days DOA Guarantee Policy, if the item is damaged, you need to contact us within 7 days. We are sorry that your order has been received for more than 7 days, according to the policy, you will not be entitled to this service. We suggest you contact us early next time.

Here is the 7 Days DOA Guarantee Policy.

We are sorry about the inconvenience caused. Your understanding would be highly appreciated.

Best regards,

I’ve ordered a few other things from them without problems but this has definitely put me off of them. Had it been shipped out within a reasonable timeframe I wouldn’t have had issues returning it, but since it took two months to get to me it when I was out of the country I missed the week return period.

Top tier kek.

I’ll refrain from buying anything flashlight related from Banggood.

A 7 day DOA warranty period is pathetic. Even past 7 days, if the light doesn’t work, then they should try to get you up to speed still.

@ Thermolumo:

I had never seen such 7-day policy. Talk about a hidden agenda! And they couldn’t sway some; you were out of town. In doing so, they lose: either forfeit the cost or the customer.

Hopefully, you had the dispute resolved with PayPal. So they lose both ways. Not very intelligent.

On my end, the first time my Astrolux FT03S had an issue, some 20+ days after receiving the light, they offered a free driver replacement. I had asked them to take it up with Mateminco to have a corrected version. They didn’t respond. It took some 60 days before I took the dive and re-confirmed the replacement. And sure enough, it came within 20 days of shipping.

Well, that 1st replacement has the same issue – never turning OFF; always very dim. Mind you, this after some use since June ’20. I had reached out to Mateminco for a new driver (never mentioned this recurring problem), but all too quickly slapped a $20 fee and $12 shipping (all USD = $56 CAD). Trying to get them to ease up some, I nudged this was a replacement but they quickly snapped “you didn’t purchase from us.”
BangGood did offer a replacement at a reasonable cost of $13 CAD. Had an issue with accountability and tracking, but nonetheless, the driver did make it to my mailbox.

I’m not too keen on replacing again (2nd time). I’m trying to figure out why the driver stays in very dim mode. This 2nd driver behalves as such when hot. After a long cooldown, it returns to its proper OFF state.
Edit: Might try some thermal putty between the MCU and the USB hub.

Regarding the better merchants, their presence here on the forum confirms some degree of follow-up and accountability.
Even FastTech is doing some PR to re-establish their credibility. They had trashed a few people and it left scars.

Kaidomain has some delayed processing issues and any newbie may worry some, especially when they don’t respond to messages. But they always delivered my goods, never any faulty items so I might not know of their return/refund policies.

Unfortunate that BG is taking the cheap “screw-them & move on” approach. Not offering any work-around for a pricey light is bound to have negative feedback from their market.

Afterthought:

This be my conjecture, but the business exchange between BangGood and Matemico may not be too ‘camaraderie’. Mateminco has produced some good lights and their deficiencies do get posted here. FreeMe did make a thread regarding these first issue lights and some bugs will be inevitable. As an OEM they would have the responsibility for returns of defects, but time constraint to make these new designs leads to design faults. That hurts the bottom line and naturally, they would push some of these to BG as DOA would be a shipping issue. To cut their losses, BG would deny replacement/refund.

In short, the consumer is not well served. Saving some money on pre-order group buys may not be worth the risk.

Have you tested if it’s faulty 7135?
