Where is your taskbar located

Right now bottom because silly win 11 does not allow it to be on the side. I prefer it on the left.

Download ExplorerPatcher and customize your Win11 taskbar…

It’s got endless options and it’s free GitHub - valinet/ExplorerPatcher: This project aims to enhance the working environment on Windows

I use it to have the start menu on the left and never combine windows from the same app, works great.

I have it on the bottom.

I had it on the right for a while, and thought it was great over there (for a while), but I switched back to the bottom.

I can see why people like 16:10 monitors over 16:9 monitors.

They give you more vertical space, and I imagine it's especially nice when you have the taskbar on the bottom with a 16:10 monitor.

Bottom. I’m a purist.

Top and bottom.

Thanks. That helped.

I keep mine on the left. It makes the most sense to me as most applications (web browsers, word processors, etc) make better use of having more vertical space. Set to its minimum width, there is still plenty of room for two windowed applications side by side.

I wasn’t aware Win 11 doesn’t allow you to move the taskbar to the side. One more thing to add to my extensive list of reasons not to “upgrade”.

On my desk, I have three displays with aspect ratios of 16:9, 16:10, and 9:16.

On the 16:9 built into my laptop, which sits to my left, my panel is on the left. I want all the vertical space I can get. I cannot fathom why such an oblong ratio became standard for laptops.

16:10 display in the middle, the panel is on top. I’d rather have it on a side at this aspect ratio, but this display is in the middle and it’s better to have panels at edges.

9:16 on the right side, it’s on top. Maybe I should switch top to bottom - having window controls and browser tabs at an edge is better.

As this query is most probably aimed at Windows users, those of us on MacOS have little issue with such.
A couple of clicks and re-position the bar; better yet, hide when a full vertical screen is required.
Also, we have multi-desktop options. A quick swipe to different apps / browser window and even a virtual machine running MS.
It’s a feature that I couldn’t work without. Else, multi-screen configuration as Zak’s.

I love the multi desktop feature as well. It was one of my favorite features of macOS. Upon acquiring my new work laptop (Windows unfortunately) I discovered that Windows 10 has a similar feature. I can swipe back and forth between desktops with four fingers on the touchpad. However, it’s much clunkier and not nearly as smooth as macOS. For example, sometimes when I open a remote desktop connection, the Window will pop up three desktops away from the one I launched it from.

After more than a decade it’s still in the same place where Bill Gates put it. Down under, and I have no intentions to change that. Why, because I can? Life’s too short.
