New Fireflies T1R Mini Thrower-- Release date 25th Jan

I don’t think Jack does black friday. It’s not a Chinese thing.

i agree, and i think FireFlies is fine. i was emailing with Jack last week. These glitches happen on sites, even Hank's and even here at BLF. I dont think its a problem, or at least i have confidence it is not.

Got a response from Jack, told me the site will be back up and running in 12 hours time.

Emailed Jack about the release date, he said “probably next year” as the driver components are the only thing that’s missing.

Wonder if the backlights will be RGB as in the DM11, or if it’s single colour.

The top post says they are RGB

Doh!

It’s been a while since the top post, to my defense! ; )

I want one, now

Luckily for us, this one is only a year late

And counting

If this ever gets released it would be awesome to have SFT40 as an emitter option.

just having this light come out would be fantastic.

it's interesting I have been hearing for over a year that TI wasn't shipping chips to China, due to shortages. Well I read this article published last month that says the opposite- China isn't ordering chips due to Covid shut downs effecting their factories production rates.
https://www.reuters.com/technology/chipmaker-texas-instruments-quarterly-revenue-beats-estimates-2022-04-26/

that could just be TI covering their butts because their a publicly traded company whose profit and revenue are dropping almost double digits, not wanting to admit shortfalls and placing the blame on the pandemic and their customers.

who knows, either way- hopefully we'll see this light and the other "pro" models back in production soon!

id love a copper/titanium e07x pro or e12r :))

They could redesign instead of waiting for ages, the MP2145 is an alternative 6A buck IC that is available (Convoy use it in their recent UV driver), and last I checked the charger IC (TI) was actually available at Mouser.

I literally JUST noticed the trit slots on this thing. Amazing how much time simple journey’s can take. Couldn’t care less about trit slots before, still don’t so much now. But the nuance of every flashlight is something that you learn to appreciate as time goes on.

I can’t remember where or what I was watching (very recently, like yesterday even maybe) but there is this clip below playing in my head…

A slow-motion black and white camera cuts to a door outside of what appears to be a courthouse. There are about 10 reporters (circa 1920’s) flanking each side of the walkway leading to the door. It’s clear they are eagerly waiting to pepper whoever is about to come out of that door with endless questions. The scene is filmed from a very tight angle. It’s a first person shot from someone standing about 10ft outside the door right in the middle of the walkway and the reporters. It’s also snowing heavily. As soon as the door opens, a pretty and formally dressed young woman in her 20’s, and what appears to be her lawyer, start walking out. Immediately all the reporters start crowding around them. As she starts walking, the flurry of questions start and she has no choice but to summon the strength to hold her head up and stoically make her way forward through the mob. After about 2 seconds of what felt like 10 minute’s of her walking towards the camera. The camera pulls backward and upward swiftly, and immediately all the colors in the picture are restored too. Now you don’t just see this small crowd, you can see the whole building they are in front of. You can see the nice green lawn and all the elegant and blossoming trees everywhere. To the very left side of the screen, the camera catches a man casually watching this crowd that formed around the woman. The camera now moves to where the man is standing and the view of the mob is from his perspective. The man casually watches the quiet commotion and camera crews from a distance. It’s now clear that this is just a beautiful sunny day where a man is quietly watching a dramatic scene being filmed for a movie in beautiful surroundings. You can even see someone working the fake snow machine, so the camera has definitely broken the fourth wall and the sham of her dramatic exit is quickly over.

Watching this felt so hilariously spot-on with how flashlight enthusiasts feel about flashlights versus how non-enthusiasts probably feel about flashlights. Me noticing and geeking out over trit slots I barely care about but like the idea of having, instantly reminded me of this scene again. So I said screw it, I’m sharing it for a chuckle.

It also reminds me about how sometimes I wonder if other people see how bloody beautiful some of the light’s I’m holding are, or if they just completely miss the fact that I’m just basically casually holding the equivalent of the FRICKIN Sistine Chapel in the palm my hand??? :person_facepalming: :person_facepalming: :person_facepalming:

beautifully said. I almost got lost there for a second but you tied together nicely :)) and yes, take the trits or leave them x I WANT THIS LIGJT

this is such useful and amazing information, I wish that FireFlies would take it into consideration. Would it take a redesign to use this other IC you mention? I will copy and paste your post and send it to Jack. We exchange emails just about weekly.

also- I had tried selling Hank at Emisar on makin rhe k1 and KR1 with xhp50.3 HI. I sent him pics of how I made my kr1 50.3 HI, and the mcpcb I used. I sent him links to Mouser for 4500k 90CRI 50.3 HI available in quantity. At the end of the whole thing he told me he couldn't get any 50.3 HI Except 6500k low cri. I didn't push it any further. I know he's busy.

but it made me wonder, in addition to what you said- is there a reason the Chinese manufacturers do not consider ordering from companies like mouser? Who seems like a enormous reseller.

I was wondering about this too and if this would affect the ability of the light to keep the Auxiliares?

And I knew my post was way too long-winded, but I wanted to see if I could even remotely tie it all in together in a way good enough to show much we love flashlights around here. Hopefully it wasn’t too confusing, was just messing around.

Yes the board would have to be redesigned, could be quick to do if not many other components need to be moved, since there is already some free space on the driver it shouldn’t be too complicated.

I don’t know about their ability to buy from Mouser, The MP2145 isn’t actually available there, but it is from MPS direct, and if Convoy managed to use it then it can be sourced for them. Regarding the charger they could also use another one, other brands always use Chinese branded ones that are cheaper.

They should probably use another Op-Amp too because the one used is very expensive for no good reason, also they use a discrete temp sensor, if they switch to Attiny1616 it would be need anymore since it has a factory calibrated one.

Not to mention this issue , so they need to do a revision in any case.

COVID sure threw a monkey wrench into so many plans…

But I sit off to the side occasionally glancing this thread… hoping one day we hear an update on the T1R.

So I got FireFlyLite T1R CULNM1 4 days ago and it already suicide 22430 battery in Low AUX mode… Like really? Lume1 driver and all. Battery was 1.5V and no response from light ugh.

TR1 in HXP50, changed from simple to advance mode with the 10 clicks, superb green anodizing, and useful throw. Both batteries work well; 21700 maintains turbo/high till it get dang hot. Bright enough, but need to wait for reviews to validate levels. Switch and construction are much better than most.
