SOLD - Modified Coleman Flashlight. The stock light had an XR-C led in it. I installed an XM-L T6 1C in it, along with a nice copper heat sink. Everything else is stock. It's a nice 3AAA light, made even better with the XM-L.
The light has ONE MODE ON/OFF
Here's a bunch of photos of the stock light and the mod.
now an OT question for old pro: did you use the same reflector? i.e. can i assume the square base of the XM-L die has the same diagonal diameter as the XRC/XRE ring? and that it will fit without filing/enlarging the reflector input?
Asking since i've got a couple of the Ultrafire S5 18650 XR-E beauties, and think an xml swap would make it better than the UF-2100/HD2011 in the looks department. The S5 is going for $8.50 on fleabay (sample link), and would be a good host if only I can figure out how to unscrew the pill from behind without the needed tools, but that's a question left for another day.
Yes, the XM-L will fit in the led opening of a lreflector with the XR series in it. Just barely, but it fits without scraping. I find the best beam on most reflectors, to be just above the base of the led. “My best beam” that is. - Floody
