Guys, what are the Convoy drivers necessary to push the 519a and sft40 emitters? i need some stuff to put in the S2+ hosts i’ve purchased recently…
Well, the sft40 s2+ uses a 5A driver as standard but isn’t it a little hot roddish for the 519a?
Nope. It’s the 219B you don’t want to use with the 5A driver. The 519 can handle it just fine.
Djozz tested it, and the 519A peaks in brightness around 6A. So 5A is a nice max current. It’ll get hot in an S2 of course, but it won’t harm the emitter.
If you want to run high mode without extra heat the 3A driver fine too. But you’ll have to solder it to the pill, which is annoying.

What driver Simon sells his 519a S2s with?
Just want to have an idea of the heat these will pump out, also, efficiency is a bigger concern to me than sheer output but if should they be the same, at the same brightness, I wouldn’t mind have a little extra oomph at all, I just wouldn’t like to sacrifice efficiency at the same middle brightness levels which is most of my use time.
What are the architectures Simon uses in these drivers, are they buck boost, linear, linear + fet…?

Hi Simon. The 17mm forward switch I got is a bit different from the one pictured. the switch has a black top instead of white top and the mcpcb has 1 center hole instead of 5 center holes which is exactly like the 16mm switch pcb. it measures just under 16mm like your 1288 16mm switches.
Is there a way to get LEDs cheaper?
If you get 10 pcs the price is $2-3 but I want to try various LEDs and tints.
You have to buy per piece and 519a for instance is $7.50 for one. If you buy multiple the price doesn’t decrease.

The color of the top doesn’t matter. It’s invisible in assembled tail so.
The pcb you received is better because it has more vias - less resistance.

The color of the switch stalk doesn’t matter. It’s the same switch.
The 16MM PCB is much better than a 17MM PCB though, because the 16MM one will fit in Simon’s 18650 lights without having to modify the PCB.
Do they mean only cool white? That’s a shame, a number of lights would benefit from such an led.
