Lithium Primary

Hello,

which small and common AA-torches are suitable for lithium primary use?
I know that since the voltage of those batteries is slightly above 1,5V some torches don’t like them

I’m planning on leaving the torch in my car for very long periods of time and it will get cold which is why I’d like to use either AA-Lithium or CR123A batteries

It might be easier if you give some models you’re interested in? Someone correct me if I’m wrong but I think the only issue with their as-new slightly higher voltage crops up when a driver is made to accept dual fuel with AA or 14500 where some have voltage sense limits below the lithium metal primary. The Lumintop Tool and original non-14500 Convoy T2 both do fine. I think Simon is going to address the issue on the T2 with later version drivers. Nicron N7 adjustable angle head does fine, the now-unavailable Rofis R2 does fine. Totally forgot to check on my light, but the Sofirn SP10 Pro might take them (could check that thread for comments, too).

The chips and circuits themselves should have no trouble at all with the couple extra tenths of a volt but if the MCU and associated sensing is too tight then that’s where you’ll have problems. All single cell 1.5v lights need to be boosted up to 3v-ish by the driver anyhow.

I was actually looking at the T2 and T3 before but only saw the dual-fuel one and assumed it had the same voltage issue

So the regular AA version works fine with lithium primaries?

CR123A is the preferred battery. Readily available.

I have never used a regular version of the T2, but no other devices of may kind that I have ever used a primary lithium cell in has ever had a problem.

Which cheap CR123A light would you recommend?

The first 10 or so results on parametrek arant avaible anymore

All I can say is that in home depot they sell 10 packs for $10. That’s not bad for a solid battery.

If you want cheaper, you may have to look online and get batches of 100.

I was talking about the torches, not the batteries

CR123A

these are super good and super cheap

super small too

$2.47 !!

Convoy T3 with the 12-mode driver and a AA ltihium primary.

the SP10 Pro, and it is on sale
code S7ECOBGO

or if you want a simpler UI, Lumintop Tool AA, or any other AA you like except for the Convoy as others have pointed out.
