Overview: All Eneloop batteries 2005-2024

In Europe, our Eneloop packaging shows Min. capacity only. This has been the case for many years.

I thought that the US also changed that, but it seems not. So they still show Min. capacity + Typical/Rated capacity.

The new AA will do 2,000mAh instead of 1,900mAh

and the new AAA will do 800mAh instead of 750mAh.

These are only available in Europe.. for the moment.

I just ordered 4 AAs and 4 AAAs.

No, I got them at Amazon.. Nkon will probably have them soon as well.

Here's a quick video:

Could someone measure the diameter compared to older generation. I have some devices that are a tight fit. Wondering if the extra capacity requires bigger battery.

Unfortunately, I have a cheap digital caliper, and it's not so precise in the tens/hundreds of millimeters.

1st gen 14.11

3rd gen 14.13

4th gen 14.13

5th gen 14.16

These measurements aren't static... Each time I measure, they change slightly in the tens/hundreds, and sometimes go up to 14.20mm.

But every time I measure them, the 1st gen has the lowest number, and 5th has the highest number

Thank you for the heads up & the video ChibiM:beer:

Thanks much for measurements.

is this special eneloop edition is original?

https://www.seedcamera.com/Battery-Charger/Eneloop-Glitter-AAx4-Two-Tone-HR-3UTGA-S4G.html

it seems to original, but 4 pcs per pack
I read your blog and these kind of eneloop has 8 pcs per pack

Hi,

They are kind of unique, but not a special edition.

The actual special editions are called Tones, and are numbered from 1-4 or 1-8 depending on the type.

but that unique version, is it still original and not fake?

Yeah, they look legit.. I think they are 2nd gen Eneloops

What about these batteries sold on costco? Since they are made in Japan, are they rebadged eneloops as well?

@cyclops:

Those are not advertised as being LSD.

In my experience, if a battery is not advertised as LSD, it's not LSD, therefore there's no way that they're rebadged Eneloops.

The Energizer are confusing. I was under the impression there were made in Japan, and there is only one factory making AA in Japan. Mistake? Misinformation?
Also [Made with 15% recycled materials] and [These Energizer AA batteries come pre-charged and can be recharged in an Energizer battery charger hundreds of times. Each AA rechargeable battery can hold its charge for up to 12 months in storage, and the double A batteries have up to a 5 year battery life with normal use.].
Those claims are not consistent with Eneloop.

Looks like 5th generation Eneloops are still not being sold in North America.

Right now, still only in the EU!

Nkon has the new versions now, I checked a couple of weeks ago and they didn’t have them. 1€ more than amazon.fr even though the previous gens were cheaper :frowning:

Yeah, they are quite expensive.

I told Nkon about the 5th gens in June or July, so they finally made it to their store.. better late than never.

Right now, every store has them at a very high price... a little too high IMHO

Okay, I changed the title, so the new website doesn't copy the title into the URL with the dates in there... :D

BQ-CC91 (USB in/out): https://panasonic.jp/p-db/contents/manualdl/1428427185611.pdf
BQ-CCA3 (8 slot with USB out): https://panasonic.jp/p-db/contents/manualdl/1428440417469.pdf

The difference between the CC53 and CC83 (same for CC55/CC85) seems to be that the CC83 supports charging overdischarged batteries by applying a small current before the main charging process.
