Whoa, I just noticed on the Convoy Ali store that there is a new model! Convoy S3
Never even announced it?
I really like the knurling on it.
Is there anything else differentiating it from the S2+?

The S3 has been around for years. Lots of reviews here on the differences.
Hm, oh… lol
I hadnt seen it before. Its at the top of the homepage under “new arrive” with only 11 sales and no reviews.
Please make a MAO M21B GT-FC40 :disappointed: :disappointed: :disappointed:
MAO M21B… very much this!
S21D would be awesome as well, in any other finish too lol
tactical_grizzly: Lixivium:Regarding the deep red emitter driver, will the 12 groups driver offer superior performance or simply more output options than the five groups driver?
Should be just more output level options. The driver hardware is likely identical. Just like how Simon’s linear drivers are available with 2 different firmwares (4-mode and 12-group) but are physically identical.
Since 12 groups require chips with higher precision, the cost is also higher, and the output current of moonlight is lower than that of ordinary 12 groups.
Will you be selling lights with this driver installed in your store as well? I’m thinking about an S2+ and maybe an M1.
Thanks for all the good things you make for us.

Sometimes Simon gives lights separate listings for specific options and this shows up as a new product. For example, the M3-C is not a new model but it showed up under new products recently when a new listing was created that included a 26800 tube extension and 26800 battery.
I like the way that the S3 looks, but I prefer the S2 because it has a deeper reflector and throws further.
Simon,
What is the output for the 519A?

Yeah, oldie and still a goodie. It’s just a smidge shorter than the S2+ (like 3-4mm iirc) and the reflector is shallower. Steel bezel ring screws into the head…nice touch like on many other lights. I like that squared checkering compared to the usual 30° diamond knurl. Maybe not as grippy, but gives enough grip and feels really nice.
Here’s the search results for S3 in his store…if that shows up for you (.com vs .ca in aliworld): Convoy flashlight Store - Amazing products with exclusive discounts on AliExpress

S2+ and S3 actually share the reflector. You were probably thinking about S2, which has deeper one.

Yes. I will never ever stop doing that, confusing the two. lol. I even did it recently when asking Simon to include a spare pill in an order. D’oh!
@Correllux, more durable than normal type III hard anodizing, and the coating is much thicker.
Doing some reading about this the last couple evenings…certainly gets a lot of praise and the process(es) are interesting. Definitely will pick one or a few of these up when he releases them in other models, looking forward to it!

Is it possible to buy the TIR lenses and the driver separately?

I keep seeing praise for the S21B over the S21A because of the integrated shelf, but there’s not much mention of the S3 over the S2+ for the same reason. The S3 also has very few orders compared to the S2. Seems like not many people even know that the S3 exists. Is it time to recommend the S3 over the S2?

Can we get beamshots of the different optics?

For me, the reason I didn’t order a S3 over the S2+ was due to the lack of 18350 tube, and other colors, but I actually prefer the knurling on the S3 and the SS bezel is much easier to get to the emitter as well.
