eScootNow Stonker eScooter Headlight Series

Hi Folks,

Having been a big fan of Sofirn SP36 series I have developed an “off the shelf” (bike light style) product that adopts the SP36 can to mount to handlebars, with various mount hardware option.

Thought this might inspire some ideas amongst the community and the summary table on the SP36 series variations might also help determine some of the subtle differences between the versions.

I am also working on design for a fixed headlight (one that doesn’t have batteries inside the fixture) and presently prototype testing this one…. Shop Stonker eScooter Headlight Series by eScootNow

Interested in any feedback or questions related to the design approach.

There are also some other resources showing this product design:

Some of those socials have design concepts that I will transfer into the “A bicycle light by Sofirn” page at A bicycle light by Sofirn . I think the Stonker design is adequate, just needs StVZO lens (German Straßenverkehrs-Zulassungs-Ordnung (Translation: Road Traffic Licensing Regulations)).

I’m keen to learn more, but none of the links work for me (have to sign up or some crap like that). I use my SP36 BLF 4000K daily on my bike, had to make my own mount for it though because it seems like most “bike light mounts” are only intended for a tiny pole of some sort, not actual bike bars. I will upload pics of the bracket I made by screwing together various parts I got from AliExpress and then putting some rubber and foam inside as to not damage the light. Works really well but I need a 3D printer to make a beam cutoff for it. Only problem is due to the weak spring contacts even with solder bumped 30Qs, the slighest bump makes the light flicker so I will have to do some spring bypasses with brass buttons to stiffen and lengthen the springs.

The links are to private presences that I manage and require you to be come a member to see them (you should be given the option to become a member).

What you described is effectively what the Stonker is. Aliexpress brackets and elementary hoods from ice cream buckets!.

I don’t have any issues with flicker and just apply a bit of cloth tape to prevent damage to the light.

Over 8000kms electric scooter use with no reliability problems across fleet of about 7 fixtures. Stock Sofirn batteries.

….Which still requires Facebook membership. There seems to be some really good ideas there, just a shame it’s not more accessible.

Ah you mean Facebook Account or Group membership (join group)?!?
eScootNow | Brisbane QLD requires neither, but doesn’t have the detail of the groups.
Public groups have too much management overhead, distracts from spending time on R&D!

I can view the page for about 0.5 seconds before FB harasses me to sign in or join. That’s one of the reasons I stay away from that BookFace/Instacrap/TwitFace/TokTick/whatever anti social media. I’m sure I can find a way around it though. I tried blocking the web element that asks for sign in with some very limited success.

Normally I wouldn’t care at all and simply move on, but that page looks like it has some really great content that I would like to see. I do get what you mean when it comes to managing the toxic cesspool of hate that comes with public groups after speaking with others who use it.

That’s why I love public forums and Reddit. I have nothing against needing an account to post content, but requiring an account simply to view what it otherwise publicly listed content really irks me. Keep up the good work though.

1 Thank

Yep, Facebook is rubbish. I’m not sure what you get to view for half a second, but if I print the Stonker Labs Group to PDF, while it doesn’t render well, should provide a better view than the half second FB view. PDF is shared on Google Drive at:

The content itself is very similar to he suggestions posted in the A bicycle light by Sofirn thread here at BLF.

Thanks for that, appreciated :+1:
