Cool idea! Hey, I just asked Jon Slider about this, too, but why such a high charge for G&S? The rate just went up to 2.99% which for this should be $1.34 instead of $5.00. I used to do a ton of buying and selling gear with PayPalā€¦.something new that Iā€™m missing on the fees?

I just put $5 extra for G&S on everything I sell. Keeps things simple so the buyer and I donā€™t have to do any percentage calculations.

Ok, gotcha.

:+1:
Really nice design and well thought out accessories ā€¦ā€¦ too bad these ideas werenā€™t thought of and included in the original design.
The reflector is nice but itā€™s size would be a drawback if the miniā€™s main use/purpose was portability.
The thought and time put into this is evident but a little expensive(for me) especially for such a large accessory that I suspect I might not use much.
I wouldnt be surprised to see Sofirn ā€˜adoptā€™ your ideas and provide these accessories individually as ā€˜add-onsā€™ once they see themā€¦

I got my set. It is well made and well designed. I think it adds significantly to the usability of the lantern.
The base and the way it stores in the head is just slick. Just having the base is well worth it and stowed you barely can tell it is there.
While the reflector will add some room to what is required to store or transport the light, it will likely be used at home or for something like car camping where that is not a problem. It also solves one of the problems that I have with all of the lanterns that I have. They are usually setup in a place where it is hard not to end up looking at them and screwing with my night vision.
The reflector solves that and allows indirect lighting against a wall or corner.

I like it. Do I wish it was cheaper? Sure, but I can easily see that the price is fair considering the time for development, the time to make it, and the material cost.

Yes it would be nice if Sofirn figured out how to make them. I am sure their economy of scale and cheap labor could bring the price down. I just hope tactical_grizzly gets a licensing feeā€¦

:+1: yepā€¦ā€¦ it would be great for home/car campingā€¦. the base is Perfect.
For me, with the mini, space would be paramount. I already have several larger home/car camping lights w/reflectors.
My thoughts were to just install a spring magnet and cut a round disk for a base out of thin roofing metal ā€¦ā€¦ this could be easily stored elsewhere in a pack.

That would work. The magnet supplied with the kit is real strong. It holds the mini to a ferrous surface in any orientation. You can get them from K&J Magnetics D83-N52. Something like a 2ā€ (what 50mm)+/- ferrous disk would hold it upright well. Save a few bucks as well. Though the magnet will probably cost you close to $7 deliveredā€¦

:+1: I already have some magnets.
The magnetic tail is a neat ā€˜addedā€™ but seldom used feature(by me) however adding the magnet and a thin metal base would not be difficult or bulky.
For the most part, its usually hard to find a flat place even with a base and I just hang my lights from a limb or in the tent with para-cordā€¦ā€¦.

* Great Job Grizz

I tried several different magnets. All were too weak. The one linked above is perfect. Fits inside the spring and is (finally) plenty strong.
I found the light will stick to the housing of my ceiling fans. BTW this works with the base from the kit installed. But this makes for great room lighting.
Yeah, other than that, the tail cap magnet magnet is of limited use for me too. I just donā€™t often find steel plates outside anywhere when camping or hiking.
