Which TV show did you watch lastֻ

due to surgery, i was in the hospital overnight.
watched at least a few seconds of EVERY SINGLE video channel.
there were over 150 channels. NOTHING worth watching. nothing.
ended up with Batman Begins, but i have seen that 2 times.

we “cut the cord” several years ago.
Cable, Satellite, etc. would have to
pay me to go back. not free- -Pay.

That’s why ye gotta sail the high seas, matey! Yarrr!

We cut the cord going on 3 years now. Cable is no comparison to streaming. The only thing hard to find is live news, especially local.

Netflix is becoming Bed Bath & Beyond…

Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and and Snatch are movies directed by Guy Ritchie and both are crime drama/comedy movies in a British setting (a genre the director has become known for). His most recent movie in that genre is The Gentlemen which can currently be found on Netflix (not an original, it was theatrically released). I just wondered if Peaky Blinders was trying and failing to imitate Guy Ritchie’s style. I guess I will take a look for myself soon.

After watching a few YT video reviews of “Obi-wan Kenobi,” I watched the two last episodes again with a friend… and yeah, you can’t help but really notice the things that were pointed out in the reviews. It is so tragic, considering all of the time & resources put into making this series, and yet, with only minor effort, many of these problems could’ve been averted.

Anyway, I have a relative not too far away who decided to get a Hulu subscription. There’s some good content on Hulu. I checked out two series in particular:

Only Murders In the Building
This starts out rather weird… and you’re prone to be unsure about it. But, over time… it just gets better. Martin Short and Steve Martin are terrific. Selena Gomez is decent. The guest appearances are surprising at times. Nathan Hale Lane is in a few of them and he’s terrific. Of course, the boundaries of plausibility are stretched pretty thin at times, but it’s minor considering all the good stuff.

The Orville
Seth MacFarlane is a Star Trek nerd. He incorporated references to many different Star Trek series into his animated creations like Family Guy. He even appeared in a cameo for one of Star Trek Enterprise’s episodes. So it was only natural for him to crave a Star Trek like series of his own. And only natural for it to be reminiscent of The Next Generation, but with a more comedic air about it. I guess it’s very difficult to avoid repeating stories already done in some fashion, so anyone who is very familiar with the various Star Trek series will get feelings of deja-vu watching The Orville.

I have to say there are many “dud” episodes in the first season. I’m just starting the 2nd season and it does seem to be better. It ended up one of the highest rated Thursday night shows on FOX. But it was ultimately dropped (probably too “woke” for FOX taste) and Hulu picked up the series for the 3rd season, which was subtitled “New Horizons.” Apparently the last episode for season 3 will air at the end of August 2022. There is no mention of a coming 4th season on Wikipedia.

Nathan Hale? Ain’t he dead? Like, 250yrs ago?

Shiver Me Timbers.
ok.
i made that
one up.

Dark Desire on Netflix. Foreign TV series that seems to defy logic and often leaves me wondering what the hack is going on and what is the director trying to convey.

But the nude scenes keep me watching

Watched the first episode of Lost in Space[2018] last night. Not sure what to think of it yet. I’ll watch another one or two episodes to make up my mind.

I watched several episodes and had to drop it because the characters were doing too many dumb things to advance the plot. Your mileage may vary

If they ain’t got a Giant Carrot as a villain, I ain’t interested.

Start from those:
Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels
Snatch

Ugh, that smell. Yeah, I had a brain fart. :weary: :open_mouth: Fixed

I hate, hate, hate Parker Posey. Horrible casting, having her as Dr. Smith. The “trick” of her presence on the Jupiter was barely plausible. Poor Billy Mumy, but at least he got his face in there (the real Dr. Smith who had a sad demise).

OK, if there was anything in the media that had me thinking “woke”, it was this show. Over-saturated with strong & domineering women, as if to make up for all the chauvinism of the past 20 years. No, can’t combine soft & fluffy with seat-of-the-pants management of mortal danger bearing down.

The robot is the only thing about this series that I like, but then even that is weakly done.

The second season got a bit better than the first season, but the third… is clearly showing that the writers don’t know what they’re doing.

This is clearly, and most definitely, a reboot of the original “Lost In Space” series, with really only the names in common. And the destination of Alpha Centauri. That’s pretty much it. I don’t mind that, except that this new reboot is missing so much potential with ridiculous stories that waste time and make over half of it like a space soap-opera.

I’m not even through the 3rd season. I’m reluctantly coming back to it after breaks, hoping I might have a change of mind while putting the glaring mistakes of episodes past behind me. But I keep bailing out.

I wasn’t aware of Severance until you mentioned it. I have to admit, I didn’t care for the first couple of episodes. I couldn’t see where this show was going and I wasn’t clicking with any of the characters. I was just about to bail on it… when I figured I’d watch just a couple more episodes. How Helly unfolds really grabbed me. Then everything just kept getting more interesting. I didn’t realize that there’s just 1 season so far. So glad to know that there’s a season 2 committed… but as yet, no word on production / release dates.

I Shot My Dad (Netflix)

This all happened close to where we live —- Pretty amazing what goes on without being seen for so long

The Blacklist (Netflix)
Better Call Saul (AMC) series finale Monday

The Blacklist has been a really good series, up until the dramatic pivot with the loss of a major character. Still good, but it just felt less compelling. I’ve not started the latest season.

Better Call Saul is terrific—I liked it more than Breaking Bad. Critical response has positive and progressively better over time. I hadn’t gotten around to starting this final season, which I think began in April 2022. August 15th is the finale! Wow. Sad times.

I’m glad you enjoyed it! It does start out pretty cryptically. I didn’t go in 100% blind or maybe the first few episodes would have been a struggle for me too. It is unfortunate that the 2nd season doesn’t have a release date yet. I sure hope they don’t back out of it. Fingers crossed!
