Which movie did you watch lastֻ

Movie: “The Witches of Eastwick”
Classic Jack Nicholson
From my dvd collection

Or even Bat Boy.

Unless someone tossed it out on me (which wouldn’t surprise me), I actually have that issue of WWN buried somewhere.

Who’d have imagined it would become such a collectible. I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a toy action figure imitation of the bat-boy out there somewhere.

Oh, wait…

:person_facepalming:

Naturally, you can keep going… into bobble head territory:

although posted much earlier in this thread,
i finally saw Hot Fuzz which is my pick
for the best movie i have seen this year.

I just watched the new Predator movie, “Prey”, on Hulu. Its freaking amazing!!!

Hot Fuzz is a classic.

Prey looks pretty impressive.

I'll have to watch that one (eventually.)

Good to know, will give it a watch tonight. Thanks!

FWIW, the previous predator movie, “The Predator” from 2018 with Adrien Brody… was atrocious. I was amazed it cleared $160 million at the box office.

Update: saw “Prey” and I agree, a good one. Just goes to show how high tech can be defeated with the right plan.

I saw Predator (1987).

[One of my favorite movies of all time.]

I actually saw this movie decades ago, but I think I saw the cleaned up version on TV, and I didn't really appreciate the movie back then.

The first 45 minutes are pretty generic action movie fare.

The remaining hour of the film is top notch.

The acting is good for an action/horror movie.

The music is amazingly good.

If the music in this film didn't win any awards, it should have.

I think the special effects are very good for 1987, and they hold up pretty well in 2022.

This first film in this series is really entertaining.

I can see why so many sequels have been made.

I'm going to watch all of the sequels, but I bet most of them won't be very good compared to this first film.

I saw Predator 2 (1990).

I caught the end of this movie decades ago on TV, but I didn't see the majority of this film until now.

It's a decent sequel.

This movie is reasonably entertaining, and it's not boring.

The acting is okay, and the music is pretty good.

If the music were as good as the prequel, I would like this movie more.

I like how the setting of this movie and the first Predator movie are completely different.

Danny Glover's character is interesting, and the predator is cool, but the rest of the characters are pretty lame.

Gary Busey was a good actor in 1990, but his character in this movie isn't all that great.

With so many characters that aren't all that interesting, this movie isn't nearly as good as the original.

i'm thinking Prey and Predator are the two best predator movies. the rest of them kind of suck in comparison.

Return to Space (2022)

It felt like a 2-hour long SpaceX commercial at times, but it’s still watchable.

I’m not really a fan of Musk, but I have to give him kudos for what he was able to accomplish in a relatively short amount of time.

The ending wasn’t very conclusive but I enjoyed the ride for Predators

Watched “The Lost City” while on a plane. It was actually pretty good.

The original Predator movie from 1987 holds up extremely well. Because of the setting they really didn’t need a ton of CGI. And that predator suit is completely physical–no graphics enhancements. The actor kept overheating in it, helping to accentuate his angry demeanor. I also agree that it’s the best movie of the franchise. The first AVP was actually pretty decent and such a cool idea of merging those two sci-fi realms. But subsequent AVP movies really sucked. Prey came the closest to the original movie feeling.

I was debating watching Prey due to how bad the other Predator sequels were, but you guys have convinced me to give it a watch.

i can't say Prey is a great movie but certainly worth a watch. imho, if you think any of the other predator movies (besides the original) are worth watching, then this one easily earns a watch. the original is the best though.

similarly, T2 is easily the best terminator movie.

Nah, can’t let you get away with that.

T2 was a great flick by virtue of having the budget it deserved, but T1 was absolute perfection.

It was completely self-contained. It had its beginning and its end, one and done, everything wrapped up nicely with a bow. Ironically, T2 completely killed that by letting The Machines keep taking crack after crack after crack after each earlier attempt failed, making the timelines one huge mess.

It oozed foreshadowing that really only clicked as you rewatched it time and time again afterwards. (Eg, the little yappy dog barking at Ahnold when he was going after the 1st Sarah Connor, the “Don’t worry, none of this will matter in 100 years” quip after the creepy kid dumps ice-cream in Sarah’s pocket, the “haha, you’re talking to a machine!” answering-machine message, etc.)

Scenes that were cinematic perfection: Tech Noir.

The original Brad Fidel score.

And I could go on and on and on. (And have!)

Knowing that T1’s shoestring budget had all but run out, that Cameron himself shot the last scenes “illegally” when the crew went home for the day, made it that much more of a masterpiece.

Prey (2022)

I was fully onboard for the Native American encounter as a tie-in to Predator 2’s ending but I ended up being somewhat disappointed. I expected a dirtier, grittier movie. It didn’t seem like the main character, Naru, was truly threatened for most of the movie. I never got the feeling she might not make it. Like the later Terminator sequels, the Predator in this is only as threatening as he needs to be on a per-scene basis.

The tomahawk on a rope thing was pretty stupid. It would hamper the weapon tumbling end-over-end when thrown. It would also likely hit you if you yanked it back with the rope.

The scenery was beautiful. The predator had some sweet kills. Naru’s brother is a badass. The action was pretty coherent.

Huge +1 on all of the above. T1 is a brilliant movie. And when you consider the budget they were working with, it’s even more impressive.
