Looking for charger recommendations

Where's the best inexpensive place to get a Vapcell S4 Plus?

I can't find it on AE.

EDIT:

Nevermind.

I did a Google Shopping search and found some sources.

I bought it brand new from Nitecore’s 1st party website and I got a short micro-usb cable and no power adapter. And this is from the product page:

You have to provide the USB wall adapter yourself.

Oh, yeah?

Based on this thread and some more research I did, I've changed my mind and I think I will order a couple of Vapcell S4 Plus chargers from here:

https://www.sofirnlight.com/products/vapcell-s4-smart-chargers-with-4-slots-max-3a-per-slot-for-10440-14500-16340-18650-21700-and-26650-batteries

It'll come directly from China, but I'm not in a hurry.

...

And I placed the order!

Each charger was less than $31 shipped.

(I hope that's a great deal.)

I’m using a Enova GYRFALCON ALL-88 and it’s awesome. It has all kinds of advanced settings but I’ve always just stuck the batteries in. 8 bays

My old Nitecore i8 lost the 2nd channel, and I’m pretty sure whatever is on the direct opposite side from it as well.
Loving my MC3000 though.

Thanks for the replies.

I recently bought a vapecell S4+ for a friend and it doesn’t do D cells despite it being written in some of the literature that it does, I’ll confirm today by taking one to my friends and checking though.

That’s so weird. I literally just ordered that charger (Vapcell) from Neal with my new FF5-GT. I wanted a charger to bring with me on trips and I’m looking forward to charging cells at 3 Amps instead of 1

Check what out? I see no mention of an included power adapter although a third party seller might choose to bundle one in.

Well, like I originally said, "Some Nitecore UMS2 chargers come with a quick charge cable."

That link is exactly what I'm talking about.

It's literally a Nitecore UMS2 charger with a quick charge cable.

If a third party seller chooses to bundle the USB wall adapter in, then that Nitecore UMS2 charger comes with a quick charge cable--just like I said.

That's what I meant when I said, "Check this out."

Neither of of said that the USB wall adapter has to be made by or provided by Nitecore, and I think that's where this confusion came from.

Apparently, you're talking about a USB wall adapter made and provided by Nitecore, and I'm not.

1 for the vapecell S4

have had mine for around 2 ish+/- years now./ Liked it so well I bought a second.

I’m a big fan of the SkyRC MC3000. It’s a very advanced charger that allows you to specifically set up every parameter of charging (if you choose to, there are “simple” modes as well).

Let’s say you want to storage charge your cells to 3.95v. Simple. 3.94v? A click away. Perhaps you want to charge something extremely slowly, you can set that up. Perhaps you want to see if the batteries are done charging from a few rooms away? There is a Bluetooth app for your phone to check in on it.

One of the best features is it ability to handle esoteric chemistries like Eneloop (not the same as NiMH) and LiFePo4.

The only caveat is that it won’t fit 26800 batteries. But I have a separate cheapie for those, and hardly have any of them to boot.

I made a video review of the charger, if you want to know more:

1 Thank

I see no mention of an included power cable or power adapter anywhere on that listing.

The power adapter aka “wall wart” or wall adapter is what dictates charging speed, not the cable itself. So saying the cable is somehow a “quick charge” cable without a power adapter being included is nonsense. Doubly so when we’re talking about micro-usb cables!

It’s also misleading to tell people that some UMS2 chargers come with the power adapter when there isn’t even room in the product box for one. If I were to start selling TV sets bundled with a voucher for a case of beer and you made a generalized statement to someone that some models of that TV came with beer, they might get the wrong idea. You need to specify that specific sellers bundle these items so they don’t make a purchase with the wrong expectations.

RE: SkyRC MC3000

I dug though the MC3000 manual to find what it does differently for Eneloops:

“The charging algorithm is the same as for NiMH but some options in SPV (slot programming view) have been adapted for more convenient presets.”

Check out HKJ's page https://lygte-info.dk/info/roundCellChargerIndex%20UK.html

I bought this one LiitoKala Lii-PD4 very happy with it, although D cells wont fit.

Oh wow! I fell for the marketing hype. Panasonic claims that eleloops are a proprietary chemistry, and the fact the MC3000 had a separate chemistry option for it fooled me big time

Well, it says, "Compatible USB Charger" so if I say this charger comes with a compatible USB charger, that is literally the truth.

I thought this meant a USB wall adapter, but now I don't know.

I do know that some AliExpress listings don't say anything like that, so this AE listing comes with "something" extra.

What that "something" is, I have no idea.

I already ordered some different chargers, so I guess we'll never know what the "something" is.

I strongly disagree.

It's ridiculous to suggest that I have to specify that.

I try my best to post things that are literally the truth, so that's what you can expect from me.

If you misunderstand what I post when I am literally posting the truth and I'm being clear and concise (like in this very post), that's on you not me.

The way I read it is “NITECORE UMS4 UMS2 Intelligent QC Fast Charging 4A Large Current Multi - Compatible USB Charger” means that it works with a charger that plugs into it with the right voltage, etc and not that it comes with a charger.

I believe it comes with a Compatible USB Charger.

Do you see where you can choose AU, US, or UK plugs?

You wouldn't be able to choose those different plugs if it didn't come with a compatible USB charger.

Also, it would be very misleading to say "Compatible USB Charger" if it didn't come with a "Compatible USB Charger."

Some other AE sellers do not mention "Compatible USB Charger" because their battery chargers don't come with one, but the one I linked to does.

It says, “NITECORE UMS4 UMS2 Intelligent QC Fast Charging 4A Large Current Multi-Compatible USB Charger.” The UMS2/4 are a USB powered units, they’re advertising that as a selling point because of the wide compatibility it has with various power sources. Of course compatibility is nice but an included wall adapter would have been nicer.

I posted the literal truth—I spoke of the limitations of the device which are easily verifiable on the product page. You came to “correct” this information with the misinformation that a different wall adapter/cable would overcome the limitations I spoke of. Further, you indicated that this magic cord comes with “some UMS2 chargers” which would imply to most people that there are multiple SKUs for the UMS2 unit which they can shop for. They wouldn’t assume that you were referring to some transitory third-party listing on a Chinese marketplace. Not to mention, we still haven’t actually seen such a listing.

The reason you can choose your country on the listing is almost definitely for shipping reasons. Nitecore killed two birds with one stone by omitting the wall adapter. They saved on manufacturing costs and logistics costs since they don’t need to package multiple versions of the device.

I don’t think it is a ridiculous expectation for you to actually verify your information before contradicting what other people say.
