Cyansky K3 V2.0 tactical flashlight is coming! Suggestion for product upgrade.

Hi, BLFers,

We plan to upgrade the long thrower Cyansky K3. Any good suggestions? We’d like to hear from you.

K3 Parameters:

  1. 1*LUMINUS SFT-40-W LED
  2. 5000mAh 21700 Li-ion battery
  3. Tactical dual switch
  4. A6061-T6 aviation-grade hard aluminum alloy material shell
  5. Premium type HAIII hard-anodized anti-abrasive finish.
  6. The maximum output is 1600 lumens.
  7. The maximum beam distance is 600 meters.
  8. Concentrating angle: 6 degrees, flooding angle: 70 degrees.
  9. IP68 waterproof.
  10. 2 meters impact resistance.
  11. Workable from –30℃ to 50℃.
  12. Storage environment: –35℃ to 65℃.
  13. 133 grams (Without battery)

The specs you mentioned seem good!
I would only like to know about the User interface and output levels.

What does the tailswitch?
What does the side switch?
How do they work together?
What is the lowest level?

Remember to take my suggestion to perfect the beam pattern. I sent this to you in my email following my review.

The beam is a bit ringy. That is the only thing to perfect. It is still one of my favorite all-time flashlights. Above that, getting it up to about 700 meters throw might be cool.

I really couldn’t find anything wrong with it. The output was a bit low so maybe boost that a bit since thermally it was good. The only other option is an upgrade to the sft70 with a boost driver. That will help output a lot and maybe even the throw.

I do like what other companies do with the side switch like Acebeam. Let the side switch and tail switch control on/off and keep the tail for instant Turbo.

I don’t have this light, but I’m just trying to comment from watching rusty video.
Make sure the turbo mode is in the mode sequence without having to double press the side switch.
Turbo mode can be memorized.
Holding down side switch from on or off will activate strobe. Single click will activate last used mode. Would also be nice if strobe can me memorized as well. But not as important. Would be very cool to have strobe in momentary.
Fix the beam
Fix the side switch for less to no rattle. Maybe a different side switch would be nice, a more tactile raised stainless switch?

Any plans on weapon mounts or remote pressure switches that replace the tailcap? Remove the strobe.

I need a better light for my AR15.

I’m a dealer for Cyansky just for their HS6R headlamp. I was interested in the K3 as a gun mounted option since it does have a remote switch, but….I need a spring on the positive end, not just the negative, this prevents any flicker from the recoil and stops any damage to the driver.

The Remote Switch needs to not just be able to mount onto a rail, this limits options. I have many hunters who like to use double sided tape to attach it to the side.

I don’t like the UI. It needs an instant turbo accessible from the tail switch. Just because it has dual switches doesn’t automatically qualify it as a tactical flashlight, you must have a tactical UI to go with it. Perhaps design it to have two UI modes, one for outdoor use and the other for hunting/tactical with it always activating in turbo.

I’d like to see that turbo being 2000 lumens if using the SFT40.

The only other thing that makes it less ideal for hunting is the SFT40’s limitation in 6500K. Cooler tints are completely ineffective in bad weather, in fog it’s like hitting a wall and becomes entirely useless. Maybe also look at other LED options, unless of course you can source the 5000K SFT40.

They already sell a remote switch for the K3

I always like the 3 “instamodes” model:

Press’n’hold for moonlight.
Click for last-memorised mode.
2click for turbo.

Turbo by definition should be an unsustainable mode of “emergency brightness”, whereas “high[est]” would be the brightest sustainable mode.

Nobody seems to do that, though, which is why we’re all hip-deep in lights that have “turbo” for 10-30sec.

USB C charging. I’m in the annoying position of my chargers not supporting 21700. I’m probably not alone. Besides, it’s convenient not having to carry a charger around, just a cable all my devices can use.

It has USB C charging on the battery. Having it on the flashlight only works if it’s hidden in the threads or magnetic, having a rubber cover is a possible water ingress point once it tears off in time.

Hi, guy.

The UI of K3 is very simple.

The tail switch controls the power on/off.

Side switches control mode conversion.

The lowest level is 30 lumens.

Below are the parameters.

Next, we will upgrade this product.

Wow~ Thank you for your recognition of K3.

If this product is upgraded, the brightness will be improved. As for the choice of LED, we haven’t decided yet. It is possible to continue using the SFT40. It is also possible to use other LEDs.

In terms of UI design, we don’t think it’s a good idea to use tail switches for instant turbo. But we will listen to users. Thank you for your opinion.

Please, please, PLEASE do not change the UI!!!

If it’s going to be marketed as a tactical flashlight, the current UI is terrible. Imagine forgetting you turned it off on low, holding a pistol and switching this on in the other hand, crap, what now? No possible way to switch it into turbo from the tail switch. If it’s just an outdoor model, it’s fine as is I guess.

No, it’s not. It means you are irresponsible for going into a situation where you have not tested your light before using—if, say, going to do a room clearing or takedown or something in law enforcement. But the ability to use the light reliably with two buttons and not an accidentally activating side-switch is needed. I want the ability to use the light in constant low as well as constant high when needed.

This is where a dual UI comes in handy.

Sirstinky reviews for 1Lumen so I’m fairly sure he knows what makes a good tactical model. Make a poll and I guarantee the majority of the vote is going to be for an instant turbo option

Not quite “tactical” other than snooping on critters making noise in the backyard, but that’s why I keep my GTmicro in momentary mode.

Funny how an “antiquated” UI like narsim is useful that way…

I do as well. Just different schools of thought. I am just too familiar with terrible lights accidentally activating by those god-awful Acebeam sideswitches. Nothing like giving your position away with the damn side swtich coming on in your pocket.

Anyone who wants the Acebeam style doesn’t really know tactical, in my opinion.
