I’d slap on a layer (or two) of diffusion film to even out the beam.
Fwiw, one of my favorite cheap throwers was a gutted C8 with a modestly-driven ~4500K XP-E2. Pencil-beam with the small emitter in a relatively huge reflector. Threw like Hell at a miserly 1.4A or so, and battery life was amazing.
Yeah, such small tight hotspots are better for handheld throwers, not a headlamp.
