Looking for charger recommendations

Check out HKJ's page https://lygte-info.dk/info/roundCellChargerIndex%20UK.html

I bought this one LiitoKala Lii-PD4 very happy with it, although D cells wont fit.

Oh wow! I fell for the marketing hype. Panasonic claims that eleloops are a proprietary chemistry, and the fact the MC3000 had a separate chemistry option for it fooled me big time

Well, it says, "Compatible USB Charger" so if I say this charger comes with a compatible USB charger, that is literally the truth.

I thought this meant a USB wall adapter, but now I don't know.

I do know that some AliExpress listings don't say anything like that, so this AE listing comes with "something" extra.

What that "something" is, I have no idea.

I already ordered some different chargers, so I guess we'll never know what the "something" is.

I strongly disagree.

It's ridiculous to suggest that I have to specify that.

I try my best to post things that are literally the truth, so that's what you can expect from me.

If you misunderstand what I post when I am literally posting the truth and I'm being clear and concise (like in this very post), that's on you not me.

The way I read it is “NITECORE UMS4 UMS2 Intelligent QC Fast Charging 4A Large Current Multi - Compatible USB Charger” means that it works with a charger that plugs into it with the right voltage, etc and not that it comes with a charger.

I believe it comes with a Compatible USB Charger.

Do you see where you can choose AU, US, or UK plugs?

You wouldn't be able to choose those different plugs if it didn't come with a compatible USB charger.

Also, it would be very misleading to say "Compatible USB Charger" if it didn't come with a "Compatible USB Charger."

Some other AE sellers do not mention "Compatible USB Charger" because their battery chargers don't come with one, but the one I linked to does.

It says, “NITECORE UMS4 UMS2 Intelligent QC Fast Charging 4A Large Current Multi-Compatible USB Charger.” The UMS2/4 are a USB powered units, they’re advertising that as a selling point because of the wide compatibility it has with various power sources. Of course compatibility is nice but an included wall adapter would have been nicer.

I posted the literal truth—I spoke of the limitations of the device which are easily verifiable on the product page. You came to “correct” this information with the misinformation that a different wall adapter/cable would overcome the limitations I spoke of. Further, you indicated that this magic cord comes with “some UMS2 chargers” which would imply to most people that there are multiple SKUs for the UMS2 unit which they can shop for. They wouldn’t assume that you were referring to some transitory third-party listing on a Chinese marketplace. Not to mention, we still haven’t actually seen such a listing.

The reason you can choose your country on the listing is almost definitely for shipping reasons. Nitecore killed two birds with one stone by omitting the wall adapter. They saved on manufacturing costs and logistics costs since they don’t need to package multiple versions of the device.

I don’t think it is a ridiculous expectation for you to actually verify your information before contradicting what other people say.

I did not post any misinformation.

I did verify my information before contradicting what other people said.

The charger that I linked to comes with a compatible USB charger, and which one you get depends on if you choose the AU, US, UK, or EU electrical plug.

Choosing the choices above has nothing to do with what country you're in.

There are more than four areas in the world, and this seller ships to more than four areas in the world.

You are choosing the type of electrical plug that you want.

I have looked at many UMS2 and UMS4 chargers on AliExpress, and I happen to know what I'm talking about.

I only linked to the one AE listing with the lowest price.

Like I said quite a while ago, this is all a big misunderstanding.

I can’t decide between the UMS2 or UMS4, might go with the 4 as it’s only $10 more

I’ve sent them a messaging to confirm asking if it comes with quick charge compatible charger but I haven’t had a reply yet.

The UMS4 doesn't charge as quickly as the UMS2, and I think the charger that I ordered (the Vapcell S4 Plus) is better than the UMS4 (and it's almost as cheap as the UMS4 if you order it from Sofirn directly from China.)

...

Also even though HKJ said that the UMS2 charges all cells at 3A, he also said that might change with UMS2 chargers in the future.

In other words, the current UMS2 may not charge all cells at 3A.

I think they can both do 3A on 1 channel

It the UMS4 did something like:
1 channel - 3 amp
2 channel - 2 amp
3 channel - ?
4 channel - 1 amp

I bought a vapecell S4 plus for my friend a while ago but it doesn’t take D cells unfortunately, also the nitecore is half the price.

The UMS4 is $26.38, possibly with sales tax.

The Vapcell S4 Plus is was less than $31, and I didn't get charged sales tax.

I don't know about D batteries--if that's a dealbreaker, I guess get the UMS4.

Are D batteries too wide for the Vapcell S4 Plus?

Here it’s about $40 for the UMS4 and S4 plus $80 both shipped.

The S4 can do 3 amps per channel for a total of 12 amps vs 4amps total for the nitecores

I think I’ll go for the UMS4 as soon as I get the confirmation it comes with the appropriate USB charger.

You don't want to order direct from China?

(I guess you don't want to wait.)

I've been using Nitecore chargers for years, but I'm really excited about the Vapcell S4 Plus.

(Of course, I'm not going to try to charge D batteries.)

That’s both China prices converted to AUD, our dollar is pretty low at the moment plus tax on top.

Local prices would be pretty expencive for them here I’m guessing but I haven’t looked.

Did you see this with the 10% off coupon?

(Hmm... It was 20% off before when I ordered.)

AliExpress doesn't work that way.

If you were choosing a warehouse, the country or region wouldn't be abbreviated like that, and the country or region wouldn't be tied in with which charger you choose.

You keep on grasping at straws, and it's honestly pathetic.

I deleted my last comment mainly because I tracked down the current testing relating to the UMS2 charger on another forum. Not sure why you didn’t just link that in the first place… Seems like you just like arguing or something.

Your comment about the charging cables is still highly misleading for a normal user as I explained in multiple ways previously.

In your last comment that you deleted, you basically said you were done arguing in this thread.

(Of course that didn't happen.)

I didn't link to another forum in the first place because I never went to another forum for research in this thread.

I cannot link to some place that I never went.

If you really want a link, ask for it.

No one can read minds.

Also, no one is obligated to post any links for you even if you ask for a link.

I don't like arguing, but I don't like people posting misinformation either.

My comment about the USB charger is completely true and not misleading in the least.

There are UMS2 chargers that come with a compatible USB charger.

I never said that the USB charger is (or is not) made by or distributed by Nitecore because I don't care about that.

That's what you seem to care about.

Not everyone cares about the same things.

Here's three other AliExpress listings with one thing in common.

1. Some of these come with an adapter for different regions:

2. Some of these come with an adapter for different regions:

3. Some of these come with an adapter for different regions:

As you can see, it's somewhat common on AliExpress for sellers to sell Nitecore UMS2 chargers with an adapter for different regions.
