The bezel is the easiest to take out on the S1R Baton II. I use a box cutter blade and a hammer. You need to be patient and careful not to damage the coating, but it is not too hard to do.
The S2R Baton II and the Warrior Mini though are another story, as the bezel is internal and there is no external lip for the razor to go in and widen.
Glad to hear it is working well for you. All the theoretical discussion can take on a life of its own that leads to endless comparing of measurements and beams on white walls, but it’s when the light proves its worth in actual use that it earns its place.
There was nothing to do, I arranged the lanterns according to the quality of light, from left to right.
219b the purest light, just the eyes rest. Further 519a DD, this is a warm shade, peach, a lover of warm will like it.
Cst 20, it seemed normal before and that it turns green only at low ones, I was wrong.
Samsung never seemed normal
I took a walk with my wife, noted that 219b 4500k is best for the eyes, as neutral as possible without blockage in other shades, if it turns pink, it is almost invisible, it is perfect. One feels lightness and purity in its light
And 519a 5700 DD turned out to be too warm, it is not bad, but when a candle is lit with warm light in the forest, the colors are not quite natural, it seems to tint them.
The third here is sst 20, green
In reality, they are gray, such as shows 219b, and the warm shade of 519a slightly tints everything around, but this is not bad, a matter of taste.
I still like 219b more, it is more natural and clean, here is another comparison of 219b with 351D 4000k))
I’ve been swapping a bunch of emitters lately and also comparing how optics/dc-fix/reflectors interact and thought I would add some beamshots to this thread.
The final picture is on an unstained, maple workbench.
All optics are Carclo narrow.
Sorry about the brightness differences between lights. I just snapped a couple pictures real quick.
Camera locked at 5000k white balance.
L -> R
Sofirn SP10 519 2700K DD Reflector plus DC-Fix ~2300K DUV: –0.0001
This exact emitter had a DUV of –0.0026 w/ optic + dc-fix. It also had a DUV of –0.0026 w/ reflector without DC-Fix.
The 219b is not so constant in tint. I have 2 headlamps from FF, both N219b 4500k. One is a lot more pinky than the other. So IMHO it’s just a lottery until you buy intentionally a particular batch with identified duv, tint and bin.
I’m actually looking for a headlamp to use in the house. I love my Hanklights with E21A R9050 2000K so I’m going for that soft golden sunset color. Red and/or UV auxiliaries would be sweet.
I’d greatly appreciate any advice. Looking for ultra premium quality and cost isn’t an issue
My favorite headlamp is an Emisar DW4 with 219b sw45k’s and the headband from Hank for the extra $4.95. The headband is more comfortable than the Nitecore HC60 I also have. If you get the Dual Channel you can get the E21A’s on one channel and the Deep Red SST20’s on the 2nd channel.
Thanks bobvoeh and QReciprocity42! This light looks great.
I’m leaning toward the 519A. Do you guys think I should get the “Additional floody optic”? I’ll mostly be wearing it walking around the house at night, etc. I’m definitely getting the 18350 tube which should make it super light on my noggin!
