Hi, I’m looking for any recommendations for a green light to be used primarily for hunting hogs and coyotes at night. I know the Convoy C8 is highly recommended, but i have no idea what emitter or other specific technical items to look for. I have a few Convoy’s that i really like including a Convoy L21A KW CULPM1.TG 8A Driver (which was a great recommendation from this board) and a few S2’s. i’m looking for the most throw possible with a max budget of $50. Any recommendations would be appreciated.
Osram green emitters doesn’t have correct green wavelength required for hunting. Several hunters confirmed after i made them Osram green and XPE2-hunting green S2+.
There are now even more powerful SST-10 but you’d definetly try awoid Osram Greens.
That’s those CSI.NY ones, right? Yeah, those are PC green, ie, phosphor-converted green. Blue LEDs with green-emitting phosphor, loads more powerful than pure green-emitting LEDs.
I noticed that and commented in the review that it looks like filtered-green, ie, you see predominantly green, but other colors show up as well, albeit subdued, vs a pure green’n’black view.
Anyone wanting pure green in a decent but cheap host, lookit the HS-802s that are out there. Usually come in red or green LEDs, nice deep reflector so it “pushes” the flood-cone out in front of you and captures more emitted light from the emitter, and throws decently enough with an XP-E2 or somesuch.
Doubt any come with an SSTwhatever, but might be moddable.

Because of the satisfaction that i’ve had with all of my Convoy lights so far, i ended up choosing the Convoy L21B with Green Osram (KP CSLPM1.F1), which i received this past weekend. I absolutely love it! I haven’t been able to get out and fully test it at really long distances yet but it really seems to light up a good distance of at least 250 yards so far. As my neighbor down the street will agree to, as he just happened to be stepping out of his house to walk his dog late saturday night as i lit up the street with green, not thinking anyone was around. I could clearly see him giving me the we’re #1 sign in the distance. This thing will be great for predator hunting.
