The problem is not solved. My D1 (received a couple days ago) with B35AM 5000K smokes on turbo.
One solution to avoid the smoke would be to configure the light to reduce output. Users found that B35AM does not smoke if output is limited to 140/150. So, I disabled turbo and limited the ceiling level to 140. One thing to note is that this configuration can be reset, so it would be crucial that users remember to configure the light every time they reset or reflash the light.
If you let it smoke with the reflector on, it seems that the reflector gets stained. So, I would highly recommend that you avoid the smoke.
Hank said he would limit the current in the future batches, but it has not been announced yet as far as I know.
I´m not sure if you can see the post without logged in

“My D1 B35AM 4500K arrived today, Hank texted me yesterday that all the lamps are going through final inspection and that I can use the turbo as normal.
In any case, the first 40-50 seconds of turbo did not show any smoke on the LED :)”

It seems the new version is ready. But we have to wait for Hanks reply
Hank, these look like discrete R, G and B LED packages as opposed to the RGB combos used for aux lights, is that the case? Could other combinations be possible?
I received mine D1 B35AM 5000K couple days ago, with full battery it pulls 3.7A measured at the tailcap. For comparison, DM11 on level 140, pulls 4.05A.
So I guess we might assume that problem has been solved by Hank.
On a side note, the beam of B35AM 5000K looks almost perfect, very close to BBL, a bit below on medium level. It’s puzzling that B35AM 4000K in DM11 for higher current produces a bit less lux. For almost the same current SC64w HI produces even less lux and it has lower CRI. win-win
you postet since these Post of me and DrDevil some new things, but not answered the question of the solution for B35AM. I think, it can not be difficult, to explain this thing, because many of your buyers have to handle this issue of your smoking B35AM in the first D1v2 …
Oh, well that's better, but how about a dual channel boost driver?
I would probably just mix the leds, on boost driver, then buying linear dual channel.
@LiteintheNite My D1 mini B35AM 4000K (first batch) pulls around 2.78A on the default max ramp (that's twice less, as on the TURBO), just letting you guys know.
The RGB switch sounds super cool but I just have a few questions.
1.) Is it a fixed selection of colours that is constantly lit up with the option of high brightness, low brightness, blinking mode and off? or does it cycle through the colours like the auxiliary lights do on a D4V2, so you can make the switch blue for example and when you get bored of it you can change it to red?
2.) If you have to choose 6 colours for a fixed selection what colour options is there to choose from?
