I doubt it's delicate. But no one has reported back on the MAO version yet, mine should arrive tomorrow or the day after. Will report back about the condition it arrives in.

fwiw the 4000K MAO are sold out …
if you want one of the others, dont wait too long

Initiating a claim or dispute with the payment processor before waiting for a solution via the regular channels is not a friendly first approach, as it has consequences for the seller and this could have been an honest error.

Don’t worry, they have 3 weeks to reply before Paypal even get involved and I’m sure they will be in touch before that - sadly bad experiences in the past have taught me not to expect things to turn out all ‘roses and sunshine’ when dealing with issues arising from purchases from China, and I have learnt to involve Paypal from the start as it usually the only way issues have gotten resolved.
I’m sure Wurkkos won’t be like that though sort the issue out to both our satisfaction
Just to update, Wurkkos very kindly refunded me 50% of the buy price which I am happy with, and appreciate their help.

Thx for info !!

Still curious about this smoking thing. Missed several days on here but saw the new videos and Wurkkos’ presentation…thanks for that link and it was viewable on FB without logging in.

My first question at this point I guess is if anyone has observed smoking from the stock lights without any disassembly. Not keeping up with reddit much but it doesn’t seem like there are a ton of complaints for that or burnt emitters. Are lots of people getting smoke from stock unmolested units? Are we positive at this point that it’s flux residue and not mcpcb contact or the emitters themselves overheating?

After reassembling mine still bumping turbo a lot, no smoking. As near as I could see under magnification and without removing the mcpcb, the emitters on mine seem to be sitting flat and proper.

If I were to go out on a limb here, I’d say maybe it’s an issue with reflow/assembly. If Wurkkos isn’t using stencils for these tiny pads/emitters, maybe it would be better to do so. The correct stencil dimensions and thickness from Nichia could probably be used if Latticepower doesn’t provide it. Too much solder by hand would let the chip sit high and allow flux residue to hide under there as possibly shown in that photo. We’ve seen that lots of times when beginners are learning to flow normal sized larger emitters with larger pads…seems ten times easier to flub it up with these tiny things. They seem to be using lead-free solder on these…maybe a different solder that’s still compliant could help here, too.

Or….? If this is a legit and/or widespread issue maybe we can help Wurkkos solve it instead of recommending the nerfing of the light while in use.

thank you for the PWM speed info.

I do not see the PWM if I just look at the LEDs

the PWM becomes obvious when I wave the light…
I can see level 1 very easily,
level 2 I have to wave faster and look more closely,
level 3 is more difficult to see the dots, my camera can hardly catch them
level 4 also shows partial dots in real life, if I look very closely and swing my hand very fast, but again, my camera almost does not show them. Level 4 w the updated firmware is 0.1 lumens, about the same as the early firmware level 1. (eash pic is enlarged more than the one to its left, to show the small details)

it is a little easier for me to see the dots when waving the light in real life, but my iPhone camera gives a pretty good idea:

the light is a brand new Red TS10 that I received today. It arrived with the updated firmware that has the lower lows and Aux bugs fixed.

Received MAO finish TS10.

It has matte finish and feels good to the touch. Its color is light grey.

Overall it looks and feels good. I like it, but it is fragile.

I tried to scratch the MAO finish with the tip of a utility blade and the finish comes off easily. (I see aluminum under the finish. It is not the steel being scratched that left a mark.) I tried the same test with red anodized version and it did not leave a mark. So, I am quite sure that MAO finish on TS10 is quite fragile compared to the regular anodizing finish.

Really sounds like the factory hasn’t worked out the MAO process yet.

Thought I’d just post a couple of pics to try to show the colour, it’s kind of a very light satin silver grey almost metallic finish, but it looks whiter in some lights than others…

There is a space for the copper one to come I think!

Received the MAO version today. The color is more gray than white and the surface is smooth and shiny. Not really what I have expected from MAO. I think there’s definitely something wrong with their process.

I still can’t believe no one made a “steamed bun” joke about the MAO finish.

Well, what a disappointment, I’m waiting for one to arrive. I already have one in gray, if this is practically like the gray but even more fragile and dirty, what a shitty business I did buying it.

Did wurkkos stop making red color body?

Got mine today. Quit working on me 10 minutes later. AUX is on, but the 3 leds stopped working. Bummer. Sending back

Try really cranking down on it. I had the exact same problem and once broken in it runs perfect.

Man, I tried every which way. Unscrewed it and tightened it back up probably 15 times or more. When you say really crank down on it, you mean twisting the cap right? I definitely did that super hard. I’ll keep playing with it and give it another day before sending back

Yea, that’s what I meant. I’ve also heard that the solder can come lose in the head going to the main leds. Reddit - Dive into anything good luck. Either way wurkkos will take care of it I’m sure. Still sucks though.

Appreciate it, thanks

Can someone share the diameter of the pocket clip that will fit the TS10 ?

The groove measures about 19.5mm or a tad more…outer diameter there is about 20.5mm. The Olight S1R Baton II clip fits very snugly and has a metal thickness of about 1.25mm…sits just barely proud but feels almost flush to the finger (also does not have recurved “ear” tips, which is nice). Width of the groove is about 3.2mm.
