SOLD

This light has had very little use. It just doesn’t fit my needs/wants. In case you are wondering, the video has no audio. I deleted the audio because all you can hear is my refrigerator running and the neighbors who are never quiet.

I’m too tempted, to not at least inquire about this!

So, are the batteries included? Is this thing impressively bright? How long does Turbo last, before stepping down? Are the lower output settings impressively bright?

And are you possibly interested in any trades/partial trades that would also include some cash?

If you wouldn’t mind replying, or sending a PM, when you get a chance, I would appreciate it. Thanks!

Currently the batteries are not included as they are worth about $28 and I can use them for other lights. They would also increase shipping costs.

This light doesn’t produce crazy amounts of lumens as it maxes out at 2000lm. Its biggest advantage is its large reflector that results in an intense far-reaching beam without undue power consumption or heat.

If you’re looking for a big-wow light to knock your socks off, this likely isn’t it. I see the TN42 being attractive to someone who needs a light with a reliable water-proof rating and who intends to actually scan for things at a distance (like livestock in a pasture). The other subset of people I think would be interested are fans of the XHP35 HI NW emitter. Or potentially, someone who tries to collect all Thrunite lights or specifically wished for this model when it was the king of throw.

I want to avoid any buyer remorse so I’m trying to be as up-front as possible about what this light is. Please let me know if you have any questions on anything. If you are still interested in buying or trading we can PM about specifics.

If you are interested at a lower price, that might be possible depending on interest. It’s hard to know what to price this light. Prices on ebay seem to exceed $100 commonly and for whatever reason Thrunite is asking $300 for new Cool White models at the moment. I got the light on a sale but this current deal still loses me a bit of money on the shipping and I also priced it a few dollars under what I paid on the sale.

A runtime graph:

The review was conducted with 3000mah 18650 batteries so you can eke out some more runtime with 3500mah batteries.

Hey, I’m still possibly interested in trying to buy this (I got distracted and forgot to respond to your reply to my comment. Sorry!), but, I wanted to ask, did you see that ArtieT59 had commented and said that he had PM’d you? I just wanted to make sure that you were aware of that, as he’s a great guy and a great part of the community on here.

By the way, I wanted to try to get a little more feedback about this flashlight. Do you think that this would be a good option, for spotlighting along a canal, looking for bullfrogs and fish and critters?
Would this light be (at least) comparable to the brightness output of the old school Brinkmann Q-Beam 1,000,000 Candlepower 12-Volt cigarette lighter-plug spotlights that used to be popular?
And could it maintain its High and/or Turbo setting for an extended period of time, before significantly stepping down? Like, say, 10-30 minutes, at a time?
And would you say that this light would have noticeably better output, and battery runtime, than the ThruNite Catapult Pro?

I’m sorry for asking so many questions, by the way. I genuinely don’t mean to bother or annoy you. If you feel like replying again, though, I would sincerely appreciate it.

Nice of you to check for him! I did respond to his PM but he didn’t respond back. I assumed that he changed his mind.

Hey, thank you, for the prompt response. FYI, I just edited my last comment and asked for a little more feedback about this ThruNite light.
If you wouldn’t mind reading it and replying, if/when you get a chance, I would really appreciate it.

I think the light would work fine for spotting critters. Whether or not this light is ideal for that will depend a little on how far away you normally are when you start scanning for them. At closer distances the tight beam of the TN42 might become a hindrance rather than a help.

I have no experience with the Brinkmann Q-Beam 1,000,000 Candlepower. I don’t know if its specifications matched its real-world performance. Maybe someone else can weigh in on that front.

What I do know is that the Q-Beam claims 1,000,000 candelpower while the TN42 claims roughly 600,000. It’s possible that some Q-beam models might have more reach. However, the TN42 outputs a maximum of 2000 lumens and it appears that Q-beam lights are rated for 950-1500 depending on the model. The TN42 can sustain roughly 1850 lumens for about 50 minutes before a noticeable step-down happens while also being portable. (You can refer to the output graph I linked in an earlier post on this thread).

No worries about the questions. I’m very methodical about the purchases I make also.

Did some digging for you. A user states “The Black&Decker SL302B V2 Million Power Series out throws the Brinkmann Max Million III Rechargeable.” In post 14 of this thread from the other forum.

I thin found this on the same forum: “Now after i have modded it [black and decker SL302B] and running off a 24ah external SLA off the cord i get
Low Beam 35w =43,440lux@1m
High Beam 55w =68,000lux@1m

TN42 XH-P 35 HI does (according to thrunite): 600,750 (for cool white) neutral will be slightly lower but this is still much higher than the above numbers!

Thanks for contributing  I believe the TN42 actually outperforms its specs in terms of candela. According to this review the Neutral White version produces a maximum of 660473cd. Even allowing for a margin of error I think it’s reasonable to assume that the real world throw is probably at least as good as the specs on the TN42 NW.

Ah yes, my mistake, I was applying usual rule of thumb that NW is slightly less output than CW (but more usable IMO). Good luck with the sale!

thank you CE and AZASSASSIN, I had forgot to come back and respond to collect everything. I am still interested but unfortunately not able to buy atm. I already own this light in NW and it is phenomenal though!

Are you hoping to be able to pick it up on the near future? Wondering if I should be promoting this listing or just sitting tight.

so i have an order I need to pay for to modder, who is making me a light. That's like $150. Once I pay that, I was hoping to buy yours if it is still around.

I've been using my tn42 NW lately just bc of seeing yours, and there is no question I'd like to have a "backup".

Alright I’ll sit tight on it. :+1:

Hey, I’m also waiting for a payout. I was hoping to buy this and mod it with a 90cri 4500k xhp35 that I’d been waiting to use. I’ll post again once I’m ready and assuming Artie hasn’t snapped it up yet. Thanks!

I'm in, ready to grab this light.

:+1: Sent you a PM

Received and is Exactly as Described! May as well be brand new! Awesome shipping too, Thanks!
