Love them or hate them Gearbest is back in business

A sneaky email popped up the other day lo & behold it was advertising for the one and only scumbag website Gearbest. So i had to take a look and no doubt they are back in business, not sure who the new owners are but hopefully they are run better than last time.

Why the hate? me and a bunch of affiliates had our commission stolen from us, actually a bunch of people where ripped of in the end the usual tactics of not receiving items and not getting refunds.

Oh wow, after the resurrection even my old credentials work.
Funny thing, i still have some points left with those bastards and my order history is available as well

Edit, they’re still expensive though, a Convoy S2+ with SST40 for only 50$ :person_facepalming:

I had forgotten that they had gone out of business.

...

Their "hottest" flashlights don't look that impressive.

They actually never did me any wrong.

The only thing they did to me was I purchased an item they claimed to have in stock. Flashlight of course. Fast forward 6 weeks and still not shipped. When I inquired they told me the item is no longer available. Meanwhile on the web site they were still taking orders.

This is either unprofessional or fraudulent.

I am the only one who never had a problem with Gearbest? I remember some years ago I bought an Imalent, I forget the model but, I had a problem where the flashlight almost caught fire. Don’t ask me how. but, Gearbest actually came through and gave me an almost full refund. I had to ship the light back to them, and after numerous emails, they finally provided me with a refund. Minus the cost of the batteries that burned up. And every other item I ever bought from them, I would usually receive it. If it went missing, I would get a refund. I”m guessing it was hit-and-miss for most people, though.

I didn’t realise they had shut down/ reopened. I’m getting Emails from them still and never had any problems in the past with orders. Given what’s mentioned above I think I’ll be giving them a miss in the future.

i don;t remember having issues with them

i also didn;t realize they were gone

They certainly don’t seem to be “back” in any real way—they don’t have that many products, much less ones people would want.

Gearbest left their customer database wide open and apparently was easy to exploit. They then made a big deal about fixing the exploit, but in fact, never fixed it. Report - Gearbest Hack: Hundreds of Thousands Affected Daily by Huge Data Breach Not only did they rip off their affiliates, but owe millions to suppliers they couldn’t pay, and as far as I know, still haven’t. Buy from that garbage company at your own risk.

I may depend on what you (or I) call the past. When I joined BLF there was a bit of GB bashing. Never knew why. I was very pleased with their services. Great choice, good prices, always in stock, on time, and (few) issues were all solved to my satisfaction.
That changed sometime in 2019. From that moment all “good” was replaced by “bad”. Won’t order from them again.

That happened to me with NealsGadgets.
Contacted them after a couple months… “Oh we don’t ship cells any more so we couldn’t ship your order.”
But they processed the payment right away.

I actually never had a serious problem with Gearbest.

They weren't my first choice for web shop in recent years, though.

I would buy from them occasionally, but I would rather buy from a more reputable web shop.

They were fairly reliable and generally well priced back when Banggood was taking much longer to ship to central US. I’m talking a month or less from Gearbest and more than 2 months from Banggood. GB customer service was also better initially, but then came the change. At the end, their product reliability went down along with customer service ignoring requests. Surprisingly Banggood is still around with faster shipping and decent customer support for the few times I ran into issues.

I did not know they had gone, and returned apparently.

I have gotten a few things there in the past, but i have also changed e-mail several times since then

I also had only good experiences with GearBest.
But after they turned rogue….it will take a lot to regain my trust.

Me, neither, but then again, I stopped buying from them when their “deals” stopped being deals anymore.

Worse with the game-playing of deals activating at 04:30, I’d stay up trying to snag something, and at 04:30:10 the maximum number of deals would run out.

So I guess by quitting ’em early, I didn’t give myself a chance to get screwed over by ’em.

I miss those days, the “$10 Zanflare F1” era.

Yea Gearbest started good and i had no issues also but then it all went down hill fast.

i just remember their deals evaporated so i lost interest

they were just another cheap chinese site along with
fasttech
about 4 others

eventually dhgate.com and aliexpress became my go to for cheap cables, computer stuff, tools, kitchen junk

anything that could be sent in a small package

[you could get refrigerators and bikes too but they tended to have big shipping]

last thing ordered: 2017
