SOLD: BT-950L (keygos KE5), NO driver

For Sale: My month old BeamTech 950L stopped working. I think it's the driver, but can't get it out without proper tools. It's the better version of the Keygos KE-5 with the better East-092B driver. In the huge KE-5 thread, people were saying they just "drilled" their original bad driver out of the pill/body for a swap, but I'm too chicken to do this. I stuck a jeweler's screwdriver in there, enlarging the 2 driver slots, but broke the screwdriver in the process, so consider this driver gone. Pics galore in JonnyMac's excellent review.

Anyone want this to put in a Kaidomain custom driver themselves? original XM-L star and spacer included, still intact . $15 Shipped, USA only, for the whole BT-950L with broken driver still attached. I'll throw in a free tube of new MX-2 ArcticCooling Thermal paste once I get it monday.

EDIT: SOLD!

Since it is less then 2 months, maybe there is a warranty? Check it out?

What testing have you performed to determine the driver is bad?

testing? none, don’t have any tools to diagnose nor remove it. tried brute force method by wriggling a jewelers screwdriver on the two flat slots on the driver, managed to only enlarge those slots and break the screwdriver in the process. LED itself was hella bright when it worked, and since these are the only two parts that could go wrong… or it could have simply been loose wires which I could just re-solder myself, but the point is moot if you need an impact drill to remove the thing, whereas a new kaidomain custom driver is only $5.

warranty? i got multiple items from this seller, already got partial refund for a different item, and don't feel like asking for a refund a second time for the remaining $15 of this order. It seems like every item i get from this seller has a problem, to the point where it seems I'm crying wolf, so I'll let it go, and never ever buying from them again.

this was my first XM-L, was thoroughly impressed by the throw, but have since got 6 other xmls on order. just received my first p60 501b with perfect memory :) so i don't feel as bad letting this one go.

First rule out the switch by removing the tail cap and using a metal paperclip, connect the battery negative to the bare end of the body tube. This will bypass the switch. If it lights up then you know the switch is bad. If it doesn’t light up then the problem is with the front end of the light. Start with that and let me know what happens.

that’s the first thing i did, tested the bare pill/body alone hooked up to a battery, no light. if it is a unsoldered wire inside, daym if i can get the driver out.

Ok…bummer. Worth a try. I take it you also checked to make sure the reflector wasn’t shorting out the LED too?

yup, I cover the reflector with a piece of electric tape on all my lights, led hole from paper holepuncher, perfect size for the led. the KE5 host is just too good to waste on my shelf. I'd just take a drill to the pill and resolder a custom driver, if i had extra drivers and wires and rosin flux, which i don't. so here it is for anyone who wants to play with it.
