Convoy C8 Osram green.
Bought for lightsaber stupidity.
Used for lightsaber stupidity. And keeping the kids entertained. And as tent lighting when camping. And whilst on night time nature walks looking for wildlife. And as a general purpose thrower that’s incredibly easy on the eye.
It shouldn’t be anywhere near as versatile as it is. And it still manages to be fun to use.
ETA:
I feel like it would be unfair not to mention that I’ve got red, green, blue and amber C8’s. Plus a long swiss arca plate and mounts so I can put all four (5, if I include my old XPL-HI C8) on a tripod for static lighting effects. They’re all great, especially cumulatively…but the green is the pick of the group.
Best of 2022: Convoy L7 with 26800 tube extensions
You get a phenomenal beam profile with incredibly usable sustained outputs. In my estimation the 26800 cells actually improved the balance of the light along with the battery life. According to the 1Lumen review this light doesn’t step down past a certain point regardless of temp, but I have never felt the light get particularly hot compared to other lights I own. I’m ok with simply monitoring the temperature with my hands but I live in a more northern state with lower ambient temperatures. In southern regions perhaps this would be an issue.
What could be done to make it perfect for me:
Use a lens with green AR coating instead of purple.
Spend more time aligning the LED and reflector since the hotspot is a little bit lopsided (not really noticeable in normal use, I shined it at a wall indoors and made this discovery)
Convoy M21B SFT40 MAO finish, when it’s ok to call a flashlight ‘sumptuous’. Close runner-up little brother M1 LH351D 4000K. Lighted switches installed, swap the bezels periodically for yin/yang affect.
