Updating the Photon?

If one wanted something as close in size and function to a LRI Microlight Photon II but with a more modern touch, what would be some of the best options? I do like replaceable cells, although rechargable is tempting and I doubt very many lights this size can do either. High CRI and a 3500-4500k color is ideal. IPX7 or even IPX8 would be ideal. I know Sofirn has a mini keychain light using button cells and a yuji LED but I doubt its very durable and really doesn’t improve on the photon in anyway except the LED (which I could DIY a mod on the photon). Thoughts?

At this point, I’m tempted on a covert bodied photon, although I don’t think they offer any of the photon II with that option.

those things were awesome for 20 years ago

still have a lot of features in a simple UI

They’re long gone.

No, it was recently released and is still available: https://sofirnlight.myshoplaza.com/products/5mm-high-95-cri-led-keychain-light?spm=..collection_cbfa6458-1767-4f77-aa52-0d60811fe95c.collection_detail_1.1&spm_prev=..flashsaleCollection.header_1.1

does it still do strobe, and dimming/ramping?

the old photon X did that

Well, the Photon I is momentary switch only but IPX7. The Photon II is momentary with a locking on but no IPX. Photon II Pro is clicky on/off with IPX7 and the Photon Freedom has a couple modes with clicky on/off and IPX rating.

I like the Photon II since it offers locking on but also due to the momentary mechanical switch has a very small chance of draining in pocket. I would like IPX7 or better but in practice that old Photon II went through hell without a hiccup.

I mean the Yuji-LEDs.

My mistake, its the sophia LED. Very similar.

2 modes bright, Unless have next mode it start in high and visible pwm when in low :frowning:

I had nearly forgotten about this light until seeing this thread a few weeks ago.
