- what exotic fish I caught in the ocean of music -

The song “Whiskey In The Jar” has a history in time.

My favorite version is by Thin Lizzy with Phil Lynott:

… based on old celtic song:

More good metal and country covers:
Metallica: Whiskey in the Jar

Krisenka

And sing it together in a bar in Dublin:

I was not there at the same time and in the same place, unfortunately.
Like most of us :peace_symbol:

Thanks Bonham, indeed that’s great stuff. Metallica’s version live in lots of locations hits that note too. Eric bell and the late Gary Moore do one as old folks, a long time after Lynotts passing, that is very good as well, (excepting Bell not hitting the rhythem when he sings, his guitar is topnotch LOL) Moore’s happiness shines.

Couchmaster, thanks for the valuable comment.

It’s good that there are still people who remember details from a not-so-distant time in music history.

With the next comment I will return to a friend of this forum who has been one of the main ones in this music thread:

We remember you Glenn!

Uriah Heep again from the so-called Byron years:

I listened to Nazareth as late as yesterday, CUZ of course i have a couple of their albums in my car, yesterday was Hair of the dog.

On the way home i listened to Supertramp and the double live Paris album, a album i consider one of the best live recordings, and i am no fan of live albums

Talented songwriter Tim Hardin came back from a stint with the Marines in vietnam with a monkey on his back. He died much too soon due to it. But not before he left us some gems.

Here he’s singing “Reason To Believe”, written by Tim and made famous by Rod Stewart.

Perhaps Hardin’s most famous song was “If I was a Carpenter”, made famous by Bobby Darin.

If the Eagles ever had an underrated song, this was it: “The Last Resort”.

Los Indos Tabajares “Maria Elena”

2 Indian brothers who found a guitar in the jungles of Brazil and taught themselves how to play.

I get Nina Hagen vibes here.

I do feel a little suspicious today.

I searched the thread, but didn’t see New Fast Automatic Daffodils, later known as NewFads. Worst name ever, taken from an automobile advertisement and a Wadsworth poem.
But I’ve listened to a lot of music (I’m 64) and they are one of the best bands I’ve ever listened to. Their music is available on the common services.

Sparky, I can tell again that you have good taste in music.

I appreciated the good hit once and I’m doing it again.

and here:

I remember Nina Hagen very well. Unfortunately, she doesn’t have any related activity that I know of.

Couchmaster, great knowledge. I can only learn… :+1:

Thanks for noting us about New FADS, nbjly!

When I was a pip-squeak growing up in Bulgaria and later I never heard for this group.
I found them now, but you can post their favorite song/s for you. :star:

Recently watched film “Villains”. A little ditty at the end credits.

NewFads cover of Velvet Underground’s “I’m set free”

I’m also a fan of the 2001 series, so I especially like this.

One more time Joan Baez…

… and Gerry Rafferty:

dchomak who had excellent valuable comments here in the thread has not posted in over 4 years.
I really, really hope he’s in good shape…
