Looking for Ideal EDC light

I am looking for the best EDC light some general specs I'd like are:

-Something pocket-able so less than 12 cm/4.5 inches

-For battery I'd like to use rechargeable and also disposable for emergencies like AA/AAA but if the light is that good recommend anyways

-Multi-Mode preferably Hi/Lo at least

-With Low the runtime would be best 2+ hours

-Overall light to be really good for the size 100+

-Throw and flood: I'd like for the light to throw the flood a good distance like a XM-L... doesn't have to be super far though

-Price lower than $30

-Waterproof or rain proof

Suggest any that these specs match best with. The light will be used with almost any application whether it be power outage (thats what I got my XM-L C8 for though XD), fixing things around the house-garage-yard, looking for things lost on the ground(inside or outside), camping. I might be asking too much but this would be the BEST! Any help appreciated and would probably help others as well.

My favourite AAs are

Trustfire F22 which is on the upper size limit for you - it is also quite heavy as it's a stainless steel light. It just creeps over the hundred lumen mark on high with an NiMH. Performance with a lithium primary was poor. It has the usual 5 Chinese modes. There are beamshots of it around here and on jayki.com. You should get 12 hours out of it on low with an NiMH and maybe 14-15 on a good alkaline. I can't test it with any other cells as I've lost it There is a Yezl equivalent

BUT I ordered one of these more than three weeks ago and it is still not shipped. If this is typical of cnqualitygoods I'd avoid them which is a pity as they have some lovely lights.

The Ultrafire C3 stainless steel sold by Manafont is a nice light or the slightly cheaper one sold by Lightake which is the good 93mm long one - there are others which are best avoided. Again there are reviews around here and on Jayki.

The Aurora SH-035 is an equivalent but not as good - mine would kill itself with 14500 cells but is fine with NiMH or alkalines.

The Mr.Lite J4 is a nice light but is almost the size of an 18650 light. Don't even think about taking the switch apart. I've modded mine with an XM-L which was easy and fun. Runtime? Don't ask.

The Ultrafire U-20 which Manafont sell is also worth a look.

All of these are general-purpose AA lights rather than aimed at any particular specialised use.

Those are my favourites, no doubt others will be along with theirs.

A good review of it can be found here. And the best thing is it's under $28.

Anything else comparable will either be more expensive or require modding. Now if you want to mod a light, well then the options are almost endless.

Edit: 2 quick things to add...One is if you're in the USA, you can have this in about 3 days vs 30 days. Two, while looking this up, I realized I needed one for myself and just ordered one. If you want to wait for another opinion, I can let you know my thoughts next week

-Match

The C7T doesn't have the flashing modes. It is less than $31 shipped from Georgia here using code newyear10.

C7T is brighter with AA Have one, nice light.

Wait...brighter than what, the C7R? Besides the forward clicky, I thought the only difference was the exclusion of the strobe/sos? At least that's what the specs say...

Thank you Don, I was looking at that but wasn't quite sure if I should get it or not lol. Curious on the runtime of the XM-L ;).

Edit: :p Definitely considering it now(http://www.cnqualitygoods.com/goods.php?id=995)... after the Holidays lol.

Match the ITP C7R looks amazing... and like Match was asking... is the C7T is brighter than the C7R?

Edit: Oh and another question... I would get it in 3 days ordering from shiningbeam?

Edit 2: Answered my question, I looked on about page ;)

Curiosity got the better of me, so I spent some time looking: There should be no difference in brightness between the c7r or c7t.

I've asked Manafont about stocking the Yezl lights - and got a quick response that said they'd try. Sounding good.

Yep, there is some small difference in brightness between C7R and C7T, and I don't know why. I saw it first @ Light-Reviews.com and then in other place confirming this. The regular version lasts longer with AA (because it less bright). Here's the reviews: C7T and C7R

In any case, both of them are very good, high quality lights, especially with 14500 These models offer awesome things, like Type 3 Anodizing, Toughened Ultra-Clear Glass, infinitely variable digital-controlled brightness system...

You can still buy the regular version @ OC for only $25,47. For this price you'll not regret it

I might get the C7T, I don't think I need the flashy modes anyways and besides I'll use AA's for a couple of months at first. If I do need it to flash its tactical :) runtime might be a little lower apparently though, who cares it's adjustable :p.

And thanks for clearing that up a little Sashi, it wont bother me that much I don't think anymore.

Thank you Don, I will get it if Manafont gets them.

I use an itp sa1 as an EDC.it's great for the price..

It arrived today. Nice light, but the F22 may be better although less bright. Does one need 300+ lumens in an AA pocket light?

OF COURSE ONE DOES!!!!!!!!!

The more lumens the better right?
