NEW TrustFire TR-DF003 2x26650 3xCREE XM-L Diving Light

Maybe or maybe not. Once CNQ adds just the minimal shipping Registered Airmail Post, it brings the price right up another $28.96. I think DHL is about $32.00. So it’ll cost at least $113.96.

Hi HitIt, welcome to the forum.

This light is new to the market, so I don’t think anyone knows exactly what driver it has or how easily it can be upgraded. Considering it has 3 x XML’s and driven to 4.5a, I’d say as a diving light it should really put out a good amount of light. As for making it throw better, I doubt you could given the design of the reflectors. But someone would have to get there hands on one to determine if a higher power driver can be installed, not to mention if it would be capable of shedding extra heat. I’m sure I’ll be purchasing one soon myself.

Welcome to the family, HiTiT!

Probably the only thing you could do to make it throw better is to replace the driver. I wouldn’t worry about heat on a diving light. It’s like having water cooling and that’s tough to beat for shedding the heat.

Welcome to the club, HiTiT!

There is even more aluminum in this light than the Thrunite Catapult series.

Yes but 100 meters water proof !

thanks for all )

I thought of, maybe changing the leds into U2 and putting a better driver.
Lets say, will that be possible to put an sst-50 driver (5a) or an sst-90 driver (9a).
is that possible to put such drivers for these kind of applications (3* t6) ??

)

another 2 things in the original application, what would be the run time you think?
and about the ucl lens, will it stand the underwater pressure as the original lens?

////
about the heating issues, as was already told above. I not worried about that at all… the max temperature of the water is 28celcius at july-august… so even that temperature will cool the most hot torch in the world.

b.t.w - i am diving with a beast torch - 35w HID. which is getting very (very very very!!!) hot outside the water. but you dont feel it in the water. (the problem is its’ huge body, and low runtime…)

IPX-7 is defined as “continous immersion up to 1 m for 30 minutes”. Not to mention that it is a “static” rating in that the light is not moved or switched on/off during the test. At least it’s a set standard.

IPX-8 is defined as “equal to and greater than IPX-7 in some way”, ” continous immersion beyond 1 m” AND under conditions which are identified by the manufacturer The specs vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. Almost meaningless. An IPX-8 light could be any light capable of submersion to 1 m for 31 minutes. Also a “static” rating.

I like specs and ratings but sometimes they can be misleading.

umm… yes.
but they stated at their documentation this:

and on their officail alibaba store: http://trustfire.en.alibaba.com/product/580714703-213350150/2012_TrustFire_New_style_diving_flashlight_TR_DF003_3_CREE_XM_L_T6_LED_5_mode_3000LM_high_light_led_torch_flashlight_2_26650\_.html

BTW!!!
if well make a group to buy this torch. the minimum for getting directly through the factory in 10 pcs…
and payment can be made via paypal… maybe they can give us a better price??

I’m not doubting what they say (well, a little) but I am curious about how they tested it. Apparently there is no real standard beyond IPX-7 and we must rely on the maker’s method of testing. If they don’t tell us how they tested it then the numbers don’t mean a lot. Was it done in a pressure tank with no movement and no turning it on/off (static)? Was it done while being used the way a live diver would use it by moving it around and turning it on/off? There is a big difference between the two. There is a difference in viscosity of the water types as well. Salt vs fresh. Did they test for both? It’s the unknown stuff that I question.

It’s obviously built to be heavy duty and I like the double diameter threading and the quad seals/o-rings on each end of the light. I have not seen how the lens is mounted yet. All in all it looks to be a winner. For under $100, you should go for it.

Howly $hit :open_mouth: It’s the first time I see dual stage threading (or whatever) :open_mouth: Built like a tank! :open_mouth: For 85 it’s a good light, IMO.

Possible GROUP BUY?

Hi! Having done a little Scuba Diving (some at night), I would say that this looks like it might be a really, really good light. I have talked with a well-connected supplier in China and there is a possibility of a Group Buy. By the way, this supplier also has a less expensive diving light – 2x18650 with a T6 LED. It would probably be $40 or less shipped.

On the other hand, the CNQ price is pretty good on the TF TR-DF003 and Ric might consider a Group Buy as well. (I don’t know.)

About the shipping cost: Apparently the shipping weight is 1.7kg! That’s a heavy package and I don’t know what the shipping would be.

IMHO this light deserves pursuing IF there are enough people that are interested. We might even want to “pool” our resources with a diving forum in order to get the numbers up.

Regards, Bob

Count me in if there is a group buy.

I found this seller on Fleebay. Item number 271008057119

I think the price is for the torch only no accessories package.

And yep please count me in on this one

I'm in for one to.

I’ve been wanting one of these, but the shipping from CNQ really brings the price up. For the least expensive shipping which is registered shipping is $28.96 and DHL is $32.00. Those shipping costs are so close, it just makes more sense to go with DHL and have it in a week or less once shipped.

I also would prefer getting the complete package with the good Trustfire 5000mAh batteries, but I’ll go along with what the rest do if a group buy gets going.

Definitely count me in for one unit in the $40 range if a GB is started.

Dunno you will see it for less than 60 :expressionless:

Hi Richie! Just curious - where did you find the $28.96 price? About DHL, one of my China contacts has a good deal with them and he actually pays less for shipments over 2kg via DHL than with ordinary China Air.

Please keep in mind however that this is a true Diving Light and VERY heavy

ABOUT THE PRICE: IMHO, $40 is wishful thinking. In fact, if a seller quoted that, I’d totally suspect a scam. Nevertheless, a product of this apparent quality would go for several hundred dollars at a Dive Shop. The only caveat is that most well thought of Dive Lights have a pistol grip or a wrist strap. Nevertheless, I could join a couple of Dive Forums and mention the idea of joining our Group Buy – just to increase the numbers.

Also, keep in mind that this seems to be a really great normal light as well. It certainly has enough mass to dissipate a lot of heat above the water. I’m probably not telling you anything new but single purpose, dedicated dive lights don’t need to handle so much heat because the water keeps them cool.

Regards,
Bob

Hi Bob,

I added the light to the cart and then started the check-out process and it brings up all the shipping options. $28.96 is the cheapest CNQ will ship this light. I still want the light, just looking for the best price from a good seller.
