ShiningBeam Blaze $30

I just unwrapped mine, and wow am I impressed! I’ve wanted one for quite a while, and was a little put off by the price, when there are lots of great budget lights around.

This is not a budget light. It’s built like a tank, with a quality feeling heft. Good deep reflector, which helps offset the loss of throw due to the medium orange peel. It gives it a nice smooth beam, better than P60 throw with lots of spill. Great low low, and pretty impressive high.

Two tiny pinpricks out of the finish, which I really had to search to see. Both springs appear to be well centered. I thought I’d be tossing it in my pocket with keys, but it’s too nice for that kind of treatment.

I really like the momentary on, which does not change modes no matter how you poke at it. Good feature.

I ordered it late Thursday night, and it came in the mail today. Used BLFuser, so it was $30.81.

Get it, or regret it!

Got one. Nice to hear it is as good as I hoped. Can’t wait to get mine in the mail.

Yeah, mine has been on low, and in my hands, since I posted.

The only negatives, which I meant to post in my previous, are:
It would be better without a strobe, and
It does have PWM, on both low and medium. It’s fast, and you really gotta wiggle to see it, but it’s there. Not too irritating, like slower PWM, though.

All of a sudden, it’s one of my favorites, for now. >)

And I’m sure a great light, I just wish it was driven harder.

Yeah, 2.1A is a little wimpy. I’m hoping that Bryan’s next generation Blaze has a little more oomph. It gets warm very quickly, even at that amperage, so I’m betting it has pretty good heat sinking. It could handle more juice.

Beamshots please :shy: (what about regulation? is it good?)

I would, but the pics from my 2006 era dumbphone wouldn’t do much good. Hopefully, someone else can help.

The “Scratch & Dent” deal dried up, but now Bryan has the Blaze on clearance for the same price.

Funny thing is, when I got a Caveman back in February, and loved it, I really wanted one of these, but they were out of stock. Having since discovered this forum, I decided that $56 was perhaps a little expensive when they came back in stock. Now, I’ve become a tint snob, and want neutral, so even at this great price, I think I’ll pass.

Hope Shiningbeam didn’t get their fingers burnt with this light.

Wow, that’s pretty ridiculous. My “scratch and dent” is probably a grade A- in terms of actual quality, but $30 for a perfect copy?

So would one rather go with “blaze”, or for Romisen RC-T602 II XM-L U2 for $1 less???

Beam:
Romisen is a better thrower and brighter. The Blaze is floodier.

Romisen is 4.2 v max while Blaze offers flexibility 8.4 v and better modes.

I like both but they are different.

My scratch&dent one is in perfect condition and has replaced my SC600 as current favorite!
Sure its bigger but you can feel its quality.
Better throw and it seems a bit brighter than the SC600.
Works really great as a bikelight as the beam is both floody and has a decent throw.
It’s really a nobrainer for $30!
Nice tint too.

Thanks for the advice. I hope it will arrive in the same good condition like others…

Goronilic, I have to agree with Boro. They are two very differant lights. I have both the Blaze and the T601 that predates the T602. The T601 is much brighter than the blaze and is more of a thrower. It also gets very hot quickly and really only has two modes…high, and I just pissed off half the campground! It also won’t switch from higher to high when hot until you let it cool for a min. The Blaze is still very bright w/more of a flood beam and has 3 very usable modes+the useless strobe. The Romisen is an impressive light for the price, but the Blaze is more practicle for daily(nightly) use. Of course the only proper thing to do is have Brian from Shiningbeam ship them both to you so you don’t have to decide between them!

Romisen ugly…… Shining beam cute ……

I received my Blaze very quickly from ShingingBeam (I’m in the USA). I could not find any flaws on mine, not one scratch, and not one dent.

FYI: the UI works as follows:

Clickie turns on.
Loosen then tighten head to change mode.
Modes Low -> Med -> Hi -> Fast Strobe.
Memory of last mode.
Momentary works, also using last mode.

Can anyone confirm if this light is compatible with the Solarforce 18650 extender?

I am looking for a slim ie non-turbo head light that can run on either 1 or 2 x 18650 and this looks like a better option than just getting a Solarforce light because it should have better heat management than a P60-type drop-in.

The extenders I got from Solarforce are not compatible with my Blaze.

Ok. Thank you for the quick response

Can anyone compare tint to other reasonably well known lights? In other words, is this more of a 6000K cool white, or more like a 7000K+? I have way too may cool white lights that glare like crazy.
