3d or 3C host for modding

I have been looking for sometime to no avail. Most budget flashlights that are 3d or 3c tend to have POOR heat sinking...

i DID however find this http://cgi.ebay.com/5-Watt-200-Lumen-3x-D-Size-Battery-CREE-LED-Flashlight-/150502070044?pt=US_Flashlights&hash=item230a9f571c

would be a good one to upgrade, if it wasnt 40 bux!!!!!

if you see in the second picture, the heat sinking is actually BEHIND the LED, something you DONT find on cheaper flashlights 3d hosts..... unless someone somewhere found something i can turn into an XM-L 3d :-D

EDIT: http://www.dealextreme.com/p/smallsun-zy-c56-cree-q3-wc-130-lumen-led-flashlight-3-d-20230

i found that one too, but that has no heatsinking behind the led.... arg

If you want a 3c or 3d host I would go for a M*glite which is 17-20$ + 10 fir a good heatsink.

When people mod C and D Maglites, are they using incandescent Maglites or LED ones? Or does it matter? In particular for something like the showerhead drop-in.

i havent seen any 10 dollar heat sinks. link me, most are 40+ lol

i already have 3 Maglite 3D (two are old luxeon LED, one is incandescent still)

im also ordering 32600, and already have 4x Tenergy 10,000mah Ni-MH D and 4x Tenergy 5,000mah Ni-MH C

they are some HEAVY batteries lol

doesnt matter, led bulb is a drop in module

http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=203235 I use selfmade ones …

what do u use for parts to make them yourself?

something i can find in the copper fitting section maybe?

You'll need a lathe and a pice of aluminum.

ah nvm lol

was hoping i could just find a chunk of copper lol

what is nvm?

nvm is short for nevermind

why do people censor maglight with things like m*glight?

Because one guy a long time ago did it, so the rest of the folks on another forum said "Baaa...." and started doing the same thing.

Hell, I don't know...that's as good a reason as any...

MAGLIGHT.... wait

was i supposed to bleep that out?

I don't get it either. Makes searching posts a heck of a lot harder.

Yeah, the H22A heatsinks (linked above) are great for the price. You can get 3 for $25 shipped. Be careful though, Maglite modding is addicting.

Because Maglite has been (and may still be) a litigious company - they have very aggressively "defended" their copyrights and patents. And earned themselves a lot of contempt in the process.

^ i agree on the contempt.

but i still want to do the triple XM-L mod i saw. or was that a quad XM-L.... either way, ridiculous
