Mr Beams lights. Anyone used them?

Hi All,

This is my first post. I’ve been reading the forums and there’s loads of helpful information here.

While looking around the internet I came across this range of led light from Mr Beams Australia http://www.mrbeams.com.au

They’re a sort of flashlight but with motion sensors and other features. They look like a good product for the home, has anyone used them? Looking to buy several but not sure what they’re like.

Thanks
Peter.

No I have not used them but did meet his brother at the pub last Saturday night. Mr Jim Beams. Sorry, couldn't help it.

Welcome to BLF, PeterRock!

That’s ok. My wife and I got a bit of a laugh out of it, thanx!

Mr Beams is not a bad drop :D. I hope the Mr Beams lights are the same

have a good night 8)

Regards

Thanks,

Good to be with you!

Two slightly different threads, posted within hours of each other, by two different newbies, introducing Mr. Beams lights. Coincidence?

Not sure what you mean? Just discovered they’re being sold in the US also.

Still waiting for a reply though.

Regards
Peter

I think Racoon City was referring to your post and mine, but yes it really was coincidence. I signed up for the site awhile ago to see if the audience would be interested in our products, and when I saw a post with our product name, it answered my question. I hope others will be interested as well!

PeterRock- Did you see my response? I kept getting error messages, so I want to make sure it went through. Please let me know.
Thanks,
Karen

Interesting. I wonder if rechargable lithium batteries can be used?

You can use NiMH rechargeable batteries or regular Alkaline. Unfortunately lithiums cannot be used in Mr. Beams products.

Thanks, klaheta.

I have the Mr. Beams small square motion light (8 of them). I intended to scatter them around the house as simple motion lights. The build quality is… ok. The only reason I got it is they seemed to be the lower cost and ok looking ones meeting “motion + dry cell”

Hi Karen,

I didn’t know the lights were available in the US also.

Thanks for your help

Peter.

I have used the 3xD motion spotlight and the 3xC square motion lights and they both are pretty decent products, a little on the dim side. I got mine from Dorcy Direct, basically the same as the Mr.Beams lights.

I have four of the night lights (motion detector, square guys) strategically positioned around my bedroom & upstairs bath, and I absolutely love them. They are near-perfect as far as motion detection is concerned — very fast & sensitive. Light output is perfect for showing the way in the dark without screwing up your sense of night — ie, they don’t wake me up all the way.

The only fault is that they’re not very sensitive to light; they’re supposed to operate only in complete darkness, and it’s not even close. The only time they don’t come on is in direct, bright light. Not a problem, though; mine are tripped constantly, and haven’t used up a set of batteries yet — and I put them into service around New Year’s day.

They operate just fine on 4xAA NiMH, and I use them as gifts because they’re so handy & reliable. It’s one product I recommend all the time. I know I sound like a commercial, but I’ve had a problem corner for decades, which could be illuminated only by turning on some really bright overheads, and these solve the problem at a very low cost.

I keep two spares (never needed them) and if I ever see them on sale, I’ll buy a dozen. I absolutely love them.

Hi Robert,

Honestly, I didn’t expect to get a response from anyone in the forum so soon. I am interested in their Night Lights. I live in Australia, so I’ll order some from the Mr Beams Australia site instead.

Thanks for the advice.

Cheers

Peter.

Hi Karen,

I’ve read some of the post from other members and your night lights seem pretty good. I’ll order some from the site in Australia http://www.mrbeams.com.au (I live in Australia).

Thanks.

Peter.
