Review: TrustFire Z8 - XM-L Flood-to-Throw

Very nice review of a good-looking light, and nice homage to John K. :

I still dont see you putting this light down… :frowning:
I’ll have to buy it soon.
Those pictures makes it look like a top $ light. Which is rare for the price. And it is a zoomie that is really well made. Which is even more rare.
Oh woe oh agony. The wait is killing me.

Sorry, man, I have my kids this week and have been very busy. It does have a few flaws but none related to build quality. The driver could be stronger and I’d rather it didn’t have a split tail. Thermal sag kicks in quick due to it being SS as you can tell by my earlier updates. Hope that helps. LOL!

Thats alright JohnnyMac - I am just teasing you along mate. Have fun with you family. Give them a hug from your internet friends who also love all the work you put in.

Hope that doesnt come over too tacky?? LOL

Nice!

Thanks, brother! Not tacky at all. Much appreciated in fact.

But I’m not a patient man!!!

Thanks for all the photo’s. Looking forward to the data and beam shots!

Go market is knocking the z8 out with two cells and a crap charger for 15 quid odd, oh dear.

Looking forward to playing with mine - shipped yesterday from US warehouse.

JohnnyMac: Your reviews of late have cost me quite a bit of money! 8)

Just ordered it. :) Now I have to wait.

Not sure how reliable these short reviews are…

I like this:

Considering that this store doesn’t seem like it would be too popular, I question the authenticity of the reviews.

Considering that it’s a FTT light and has no “hotspot” I’d say it’s a pretty good bet the reviews are fake. For the same price get it from Tmart where I did and get the real thing in just a few days.

Oh I definitely plan on getting it from Tmart US warehouse if I get one. I was just looking for other feedback. Even though I find the reviews suspect, I would imagine the average consumer might use the term “hot spot” to describe a FTT.

Ok, folks, the review is updated and finished. Enjoy!

Johnny

must… resist…

This is a must have light!!! It is that nice…….

I’m a sucker for good machining, optics, square threads and stainless steel bezels so I ordered this soon after reading the first part of your review (great pictures btw). I was worried I might regret it but am really pleased with part 2 as well

The stainless bezel looks like while it does shorten the spill a bit on flood mode it also serves a useful purpose for beam characteristics in flood and throw mode too, giving a soft hotspot in full flood and a soft corona in full throw. Very nice.

On T-Mart’s website it claims mode memory, can you confirm if it has mode memory and if so what type? (e.g. saved if on for 1/2/3 second/s or off for 1/2/3 second/s)

I think I might order this so i can just tie it to a stick and use underwater when fishing (wanna tie it to a stick so i can submerge it to prevent the dreaded glare). It would probably be better than me trying to use my king as a light when fishing… the glare would destroy everyone’s night vision :frowning:

EDIT: Johnnymac where did you buy yours from?

I got mine from Tmart for $17. The link is in the “my specifications” section near the top.
