Which should be better for heatsinking?

The C1, but it will still need aluminum strips between the drop-in and the hosts for better heat sinking.

Thanks...

I agree, but the 502b is not very bad for heatsinking too. There are even worse, like the 501b. True?

Conclusion: 502b is good for heatsinking BUT the C1 is better than 502b?

Based on my limited experiences (two C1, one 502b), the gap between the head and the drop in is smaller on the C1 than on the 502b.

Thanks!

Based on my observations the only one that stands out is the 501b in a bad way. Best are the 504B old version and the commonly called skyray. Aluminium foil is a must tho even for a q5.

The Skyray host has the smallest gap, of all the P60 hosts I know (Solarforce L2... , Solarfarce L2/504B , UF 501b ,UF 502b , Sykray S-R5).

Lightake is up and running again btw...

The best P60 host is Fivemega, hands down. For budget though.........

srfreddy - do you have a link?

Sky Ray S-R5 Flashlight Tube is now cheaper with 7.99 $ at Manafont than Lightake.

You don't want to know the prices- lets just say well above $100 for a complete setup, including brass finned heatsink bezel.

The Skyray is a Lumens Factory clone.

Ouch. But thanks for the link any way!

Actually only $115 for a 26650 host, and the heatsink bezel. But the bezels sold out like poof.... Actually quite cheap, and much better, compared to surefire bezels.

Right now, I'm in more of a SkyRay, SolarForce kinda budget. LOL I'm still trying to come up with my ghetto TK JB45.

I have both Lights , and for mass , there about the same ..

So go for the one you like best ...

The 502 has internal threads , maybe a little less space internally ... My 502B is SSC P7 [Warm Tint D bin SSC P7] and my C1 is XP-G R5 and I like it the way it is [ wont upgrade either for quite a while ] ..

Both bodies have clips , the 502 being the better one [ if that matters ] , the C1 has a more mechanical clicky [ not as soft as the one on the 502B]

What can I say , I own both !

Skyray question: Can those black (cigar-hold?) rings be removed easily? Thx for the Manafont tip.

If that's the same DX optic as I have, it fits into Solarforce L2/Ultrafire 504b too. More of a novelty unless you're carrying 2 flashlight. I use it mostly to inspect the health, shape and type of LED emitters.

Those black rings are rubber and can be removed easily and even be reattached easily. (I can make a pic in removed state if it is wanted.) They do provide a nice grip though. The very small amount of aluminium foil needed together with that beefy head makes me believe that it has a good heat conduction, but I have no equipment to actually measure the heat transfer. Hmmm....what are the prices on thermal image infrared cameras these days ? ;-)

P.S.: Please inspect the battery retainer ring at the front of the body before inserting batteries. Sometimes the edges are not deburred so well (battery side) but that is easy to fix.
