Just wanted to post a greeting. I don’t really have any complaints about CPF other than it does seem to go down more often than other forums. But looking at my collection I do notice that all of them are budget ie Chinese made lights with the best of them being my Solarforces.
Does anyone else find it strange that people continue to buy the Ultrafire p60 lights that are just like the L2P when you can have a much better Solarforce light for about the same price?
Hello and welcome. I do not own any of the lights above, but i like my cheapo’s :d
welcome
Welcome to the BLF family, Mr. Krabs!!
I agree with the Solarforce when it comes to p60 lights. What I never understood is why anyone would pay for a Surefire when ANY of the p60 lights are available!

Welcome Mr. Krabs,
I think you’ll really enjoy this forum a lot. Especially if the bulk of your collection is budget lights. This forum is a wealth of information and very helpful members too.

Agreed and welcome.
Yes, love the Solarforce lights and products. Been tempted to get either the M6 or M8 cause they look great, but all there other P60 format lights are excellent value, and mine are all holding up perfectly and faultlessly. I still would like some quailty lights however whenever looking at a budget option in the P60 range I won’t look at anything else than Solarforce- when something never let’s you down, stick to it. Wish they’d venture into the triple XML market or some SST90 options. They would rock.
PS- one major difference you’ll find here compared to CPF is you can say what you want (within reason!) without fear of a Moderator kicking you about or removing your post. God forbid you might say anything critical of one of their paid sponsors, deserved or not. BANG!! Here, you may only just kick off an interesting debate. Enjoy the freedom to have an opinion and a say!!
Pretty sure you’ll enjoy it here!
Welcome to BLF!

and a warm welcome!
Welcome!
I agree, Solarforce is basically the premium budget P60 for not much more yet isn’t as popular as it should be. I also have to give them credit for coming up with a unique name that doesn’t include “fire”
However, aside from their original P60 clones, they almost exclusively offer unique flashlights in nearly every category. They’re a winner in my book.
Welcome Mr_Krabs. You’ll fit right in here. Prepare to shed off several pounds.
Some people are willing to pay high premium for better quality even if minimal. I don’t judge them but no way I am going to buy overpriced lights. That’s why I’m here and not there.
I like: walks on the beach, sushi and things that are paisley.
Welcome.
Any idea where you caught them?

Welcome Mr Krabs. Hope you enjoy your time here.

I own both Solarforce hosts and Surefire hosts, the surefire do feel much better made and feel nicer in the hand than the Solarforce, the HA on the Surefires makes the Solarforce anodizing look like paint.
If you want a usable cheap host buy a Solarforce, if your a person who would rather wear a Swiss watch than a Timex buy the real thing, buy a Surefire, it’s hard for me to overlook the quality and pride of ownership I feel when I use one of my Surefires. Just the same reason I wouldn’t be seen driving a Kia or similar vehicle.
There is a place and buyers for both of these brands they address different ends of the market, flashlights are no different in this regard to any other consumer product.
And I almost forgot Welcome, Mr_Krabs just like Solarforce and Surefire I think there’s room for CPF and BLF, different ends of the market, I can never understand the antagonism that exists toward CPF here.
Please dont be fooled by the title, Budget light forum. There is a disease here that is in epidemic proportions, your family and friends will think your mentally insane, you can still spend a lot of money on budget flashlights looking for that perfect light that will never exist, so not so budget forum, your teeth will turn yellow and your hair will fall out like mange on a dog
. You have been warned.

Welcome aboard, Flashaholics are here Too
I’m glad I’m not the only flashlight collector out there, I was beginning to think I was strange.

Welcome!!
Comparing my Ultrafire 503B and Solarforce L2M, IMHO the Ultrafire is a better P60 host. The 503B body tube is thicker walled. Its a bigger OD though, so its not the standard 1” diameter weapon-mount. I was able to mod the 503B tailcap so the switch pill bottoms down directly against the battery tube. Can’t do that on my Solarforce, so the solar relies on -B conduction through the threads. I can lube up the 503B threads really smooth, and not worry about resistive losses. While the Solar, I run the threads dry to avoid resistive losses.
My flashlight + watch reviews... enjoy!!
Welcome
You can fit an SST-90 and SST-50 in a P60 host. I personally favor the C2’s and C’3‘s with modifications. You can back up over it a few times with no worries it will fail..
+1 what DNF said. Nothing budget about it, I'm afraid.
Comparisons between BLF and CPF are stupid.

welcome!
I've never heard anyone say that the surefire is that much better than a Solarforce ...Do you have a real solarforce ? multiples ?? The comments i've heard were that solarforce was as good or better than surefire ..i'd heard that repeatedly so i assumed Surefire was still better stuff just 5 times the price . I have no idea as I have no surefire and probably never will .
I agree that Solarforce is sufficiently better than ultra-fire and the quality merits the purchase ..BUT it still is double or more than the cheaper 10~15$ 504 xml 3 or 5 mode ultrafires on one hand you're comparing a 15$ light to a 30$ light ...to a 100$ light...Most noobs imho have a problem buying a 15$ host and a 15$ drop-in a 10 charger and a 15$ set of batteries ...60$ for a flashlight is a hard pill for a noob to swallow so naturally they bail on buying quality and buy bad batteries or a cheaper light ...
BLF was a better budget forum when it promoted 6~11$ AA lights..IMHO the xml hurt the budget light craze more than anything else cuz it demands the extra juice
