Yezl Z1 Cree Q3 5C first impressions, some measures some pics

At first impressed me as too big since the UF P10 also compact 18650 is smaller , that being for the larger head and the protuded switch.

The black anodized and the knurling design look exactly as Small Sun ZC-84 have , seem almost paint like, not even near the cheap C78 have...the white painted logo of the brand came scratched.

Well , the negative part is over...beautifully machined innards , very nice brass pill.

Easily dissembled due smooth threads as came lubed , seem to have a quality switch.

The driver is the well known Nanjg AK-47 keep in place for a brass ring, easily could be changed if needed...the pill have thick walls while the emitter is only pressed to the pill with thermal grease in between.

Some measuress

Reflector; diameter 19,83mm ,depth 15,09mm OP

Lens diameter;19,72mm

Pill diameter;21,70mm

The modes are the usual three of the AK-47 ;High 1A, Med 320 ma, Low 50ma with memory...the tint look warmer than the Q4 5A from KD but a 14500 is in the charger to confirm it...

Nice, I am drooling already : )

Does it use a XR-E? I will have to get one after the Chinese new year shipping chaos ends.

That's interesting to see they used the NANJG AK-47. I've always wondered why budget flashlight makers don't use NANJG drivers and, kind of vice-versa, why you can't buy separate drivers that manufacturers put in their lights. I'm surprised it works without soldering it into place.

Is an XR-E , here with the P10 XM-L...

Work without soldering due the brass ring and the perfect fitting, even with a small force came apart ...'nang' corrected .thanks

Some tint comparison from my modded flashlights...white balance is in sunny day as seem the best...

edit;sorry look too big

Man, I really like Z1 body. Wish they had it for 14500 Thanks for the review, arenat

BTW, all that shots are at MAX power? That RC-G2 with R4 looks very impressive Why you've bought Q5 version? I saw R5 version out there for 2 or 3 bucks more

Great job arenat!

Do you think the black yezl with stock driver can be modded with an XML? I have the same with a different name (Brinyte PD08) and you just planted a great idea to my head.

Are at max but since I was interested mostly in the tint issue did not check the charge of the cells, the XR-E R2's one were depleted , 3,7V.

The XM-L is drived with an AK-105 8 MC7135

The XR-E Q4 with the stock P10 , 1A in high

The XR-E R2 with an AK-101 4 MC7135 ,1,4A in high

The XP-G R4 with an AK-101 5 MC7135 1,75A in high

Yes , the R4 is a serious flooder, in the lightbox start at around 500 then quickly sag, in a minute stay at 430 , of course the limit could be six or seven minutes in summer to not ruin nothing...still not check that limit when the body heat rise above 45 C.

I know some guy sell the XP-G version of the RC-G2 but really doubt he change the reflector, anyway the fun is in the mod itself, the output is just an anecdote. Some of my mods last a few hours if any , as the XM-L RC-G2 which at the end of the day gone to the UF P10...

The stock driver is very weak to an XM-L , just 1A , the best bet is using an AK-105 but being with components both sides the brass ring can't be used...only soldering it would work , that ruin the aesthetics of a very nice piece, other option could be an AK-101 at 2,1A 6 MC7135 but this require advance soldering skills.

Other hard issue would be the star, forgot to note it above, the emitter is mounted in a tiny square star of around 14mm between opposite corners...not many vendors sell that size.

Another matter to watch is the star thickness since adding spacers could ruin an otherwise good mod.

If you have the XP-G version the reflector probably is ok...

With AK driver too?

It has AK-47 driver:

The more I look at the pill, the more I think I will destroy it if I try to mod it...

The Yezl Z-1 normally has the Xp-g r5 in it .. I have it and considered buying the warmer version for 3 bucks more but am glad I didn't ...Because it is seriously bright ..it's one of the brightest xpgs' I have including the 3 or 4 p-60 drop in ones littering my solarforces or ultrafire hosts .. the stainless steel AA versions with a 14500 xpg are screamers from yezl as well ..

I like the body of the Z-1 light but wish it had more knurling instead of cut down knurl .. All in ALL it think it's a pretty dang good light .. the no disco modes makes it nice ...maybe a lower low would be my only real complaint that and dump the edgy bezel for smooth .. overall great light
