apt323 pill pics please

For the price it is a nice looking light…….cannot wait to get mine, should make a nice light for work. Can you post a pic of the beam profile……so i know what to expect please.

Expect ringy

I received no AAA holder! That’s half the reason I bought it. :frowning: Sad message to seller….

Might do better with an OP reflector i am guessing…….time to put some clear coat on the reflector and see if that helps the beam profile.

Nah rings or no rings a light this big needs all throw it can get.

Yes of course your right……should not bother me a bit since darkness is thy enemy, lol.

Wow thats a nie looking light.
How is the driver board held in place? is it just a press-in component? Doesn’t look like its soldered to brass.

looks like a press in and theres a ring around it holding in

I let the light run for around 5 minutes and it started getting a little warm. I figured it would be warmer by that time. I dediced that I would start taking stuff apart. Pulled the pill section out of it and just as I thought (didnt want it to be) that star was only sitting on the small outside edges of the pill section :frowning: ….

That why I want to see the pill.

There’s plenty of room there to make a copper slug to sit the star on though, even an ally slug would help, like you would make for a mag build.

As I said above, I’m seeing it as a functional host when it arrives, from what I can see, it has potential.

beamshots, beamshots, beamshots!

I’m reading 608 lumens on high. Medium and low are 315 and 166 lumens. 27300 lux. Strobe is fast but not psycho. SOS really is repeated S O S.

No update on my AAA battery holder.

I should have never bought this, the form factor makes me want an HD2010.

Ok I don’t know how to measure pwm and I never really cared because it never bothered me before but…… The low on this bothers me. I was trying to sleep but the kids are gone and left their tv on, so I used this light to go upstairs. I noticed my feet when walking looked like a strobe light was on. I could almost see the still beam pulsing like my Predator does when I try to get the strobe up to 50000.

Medium doesn’t bug me much. If someone can measure the pwm of the low I will know my limit…

I definately agree with you on wanting the HD2010. I am usually late to the game but this time I was to early………… patience

Just got one of these in for my brother for his truck. First impression were that it looked good and felt nice to hold. From there it went all down hill. First issue I don’t think anybody has mentioned yet - my 26650 will not fit. It’s a 4sevens model. Too fat. So I tried a ET 18650 in the supplied tube. That at least fit fine. Tightened everything up, clicked it on and - nothing…. So started pulling it pack out and the the light comes on? Turns out the positive is a really weak skinny spring that bent out of the way when everything tightens up. Besides being a crappy spring, it is held on with one little tack weld, which also contributes to the spring bending and missing the battery contact. So I bent the spring good enough it finally made decent contact.
So the beam itself looks decent when I got it too work. I used my meter to do a ceiling bounce test and wasn’t too impressed. It tested just slightly higher than my Quark TurboX123 which is rated at 450L. My S12 killed it. Heck my Eagletac D25C clicky (on IMR’s) even killed it. So I figure this light is likely in the 450-500L range.
With that along with the crappy spring I told my brother NOT to bother keeping in his trucks glove box, which was the reason for this purchase. I wouldn’t won’t him to count on it working first time he needed it to change a tire or etc.
He also just got in a Suterfire C10 this week, figuring one of the two would be a good light. That light doen’t look near as nice, but had put out about another 200L and looks a lot better quality inside. So I guess that light gets the truck duty and the Ultraok light will likely get stuck in the garage for when I’m desperate for a light and don’t wont to use my good lights with my greasy hands.
Sorry guys, but this light, at least the one WE received is junk. Maybe a good drop in could save it. It’s a shame cause it does look good.

Got mine. I love it. Ringy beam, but I don’t mind. Seems well over 600 lumens on a cheapie UF battery even. Feels GREAT in the hand! Not the build quality of other lights we know and use, but I’m going to have fun with this thingy.

rdrfronty, did you try using AAAs? If it’s to be an emergency light, those should be okay.

Got mine today.

I have somewhat mixed feelings about this light. Not bad, but not good either (as stock). Fairly good for the price paid and good for modding.

Pros:

- Nice design, ergonomic & feels good in hand

- Quite throwy (about 28 kcd)

- Good for modding: Just make a good solid pill and add >3A driver

- Multiple battery choices: 26650, 18650 with tube, 4xAAA with included holder

- Initial brightness with 4xAAA almost equals the brightness with lion (didn't dare running real runtime tests with hollow pill, see cons)

- Aluminum reflector & glass lens (egde of lens was chipped)

- Well centered emitter (with centering ring, seems to be standard in budget lights nowadays)

- No memory (starts on high after being off more than 10s)

Cons:

- Driven a bit low (not so bad)

- Keygos 26650: 2.3A, 1.1A, 0.5A

- TF Flame 18650: 2.5A, 1.2A, 0.6A

- 4xAAA alkalines: 1.5A, 0.75A, 0.4A

- I would prefer lower low

- Very bad PWM on low, one of the worst I have ever seen (will measure this later)

- Hollow pill, star hanging on very narrow lip -> Nearly nonexistent thermal path

- Ringy beam

- Build quality is not top notch (but not very bad either, especially for the price paid)

- Threads feel "cheap" and were dirty

- Spring in driver is poorly soldered, "too" long, and moves sideways causing contact problems with 18650 (not with 26650 or 4xAAA though)

- Tight fit with my Keygos 26650 (some 26650 might not fit)
