My SC51f arrived today. That was fast! Tiny little light but not as bright as I hoped on AA. Will have to try with a NiMH and see if it’s better. The lows are awesome! Body is flawless in machining and finish. Anyone ever put a magnet in the tail?
45$. minus the horrendous amazon.com power seller fees (for High Mountain Outfitters being allowed to sell on the amazonDOTcom platform), leaves 40$ for HMO to fund the transaction, i.e. it is up to them to choose the shipping method to your place. Thus, minus the USPS shipping to your place, leaves a total of 37$ (or a bit less) for HMO.
HMO still happy. Why?
Because they purchased the ZL units from ZL at an even lower price (~30$), the so-called cost price. Roughly, HMO earns a net profit ("margin") of ~7$ (or less) by clearing the ZL units on the amazon platform. That's very little, i know.
Just keep such numbers in mind when you buy brand name flashlights. Their actual cost price is typically in the lower 30's (USD) for a "standard pocketable-sized flashlight" (Zebralight, Fenix, Olight, 4Sevens, iTP, EagleTac, etc.). Paying full price, e.g. 64$-69$ for a ZL, doesnt enhance research&development of Zebralight's products but you are factually helping HMO's owner to buy his next Ferrari.
That's not okay with me. When i pay money, i want to pay for the product itself, and not for any reseller's Ferrari.
You guys paid 45$ for the Zebralight? Fair price, well done.
Very true. Most all retailers at least charge double what a product costs them. If you think it’s too much $$ then don’t buy it. It’s the principal of a free market and a damned good one.
HMO admits that there was no way to sell off the units at 69$ and continue to stock this brand and waste time and stocking space. HMO terminated business with ZL, that simple.
begrudge??, i will become myself a Zebralight power seller in Europe, looking myself forward to my next Lamborghini, thanks dear buyers!! $)
I guess that's why we here. BUDGET lights forum. i see you guys paying 9.99$ for a UF 2100, shipped. Dinodirect, groub buy, i like that. I am in. You didnt pay 69$ for HMO's ZL units, and i didnt. Same attitude. Same ship, same boat, same forum.
My SC600w has been rock solid! It spent a week in my friends toilet, came out of my pocket at 275kph on my motorcycle and survived! I use it three or four times a day, at least, never failed me even once. Runs like a freakin champ on the Redilast 3100mah 18650’s I’ve been using for the last year or two!!!
Absolutely LOVE the interface! With it on my night stand, I can turn it on in super low mode, just bright enough to walk around the house at night and not wake up the girlfriend, or if something goes bump in the night, I can turn it on directly into turbo mode!!!
I have had no issues at all with my SC600 and I use it as house light being clipped on whatever pants I wear. It fell down a bunch of times. When I’m out gardening it gets dirty sometimes so I just rinse it with the water hose. I want to know what it can do and how far I can go with it so I love testing it.
