Microlight Spoiled Child SST90

Anyone own this or been eyeing this thing up?

I’m really surprised that it hasn’t been mentioned on this forum, unless there is an alternate brand name for it.

About 2 months ago I was in Ho Chi Minh city, and I came across this in a store. It is one impressive looking piece of art, although it wasn’t on my Radar at the time and still isn’t at the moment, but seeing some recent posts on the Trustfire X6 SST-90 I just had to bring it up, as side by side this thing at least looked a lot more impressive.

If anyone’s interested I may even be able to get some information from my local dealer.

It’s available on fromtaobao. Not sure if they’re a reputable dealer, just couldn’t find it anywhere else. Link: http://item.fromtaobao.com/item.htm?id=9558857641

Ok, this tabao ad gets my vote for the best translation:

  • Is suitable the environment: Carries daily
  • Is suitable the environment: Camping
  • Is suitable the environment: On foot
  • Is suitable the environment: The night rides
  • Is suitable the environment: Searches the hole
  • Is suitable the environment: Going hunting

And especially:

With tears sacrifice sale promotion!! Because the shop owner works busily, handles Taobao incapable really, therefore the plan endured suffering loses money the markdown sale with tears! ...

...Buys the most satisfied pony roll with the least money, in this time this place, brothers do not miss!

You heard him brothers! Somebody go out and buy this pony roll!

Looks like a nice light.

That TAOBAO description is Hilarious!

And here’s me thinking it was just my google auto translate. Good news, you won’t get better water proofing compared to any other light:

(4) The storm dodges

On a more serious note, thing was an absolute beast to behold in store, some serious heatsinking. Driven at 8.4A in one of the picture descriptions.

Searches the hole and dodges storms, what more can you ask for in a light!

I'm tellin' ya, J.R., somebody needs to buy this pony!!!

I’m sure you won’t have any problems then finding the Pony’s hole at night! It’s rolling around on the ground hey!

is that a heatsink in your pocket, or?

This pony roll (Ha!!!)looks like a light called Flydragon, they had massive aspheric heads and used sst-90 in their lights.HKE used to sell them, not sure if they still do.And dry your tears poor taobao agent, better days are coming!

Are they short circuiting the batteries in the bottom picture? :open_mouth:

They sure damn are!!! Nice to know 2 x Keygos 26650’s can put out 8.4amps!!! lol.

Looks like 5.33amps battery draw and the LED is only getting 4.1amps? Yikes, not very efficient/a lot of resistance.

Monster light

I find this host strangely attractive. I wish they had made it a big head thrower instead of this little itty bitty head though. It seems the size of head is relative to led surface area is like a P60 with an Cree XP-G.

Could throw nicely through sheer lumen output. But I'd expect floody though.

It’s got a 65mm head according to this dealer. When I saw the thing in store it was a real heavy chunk of a beast, certainly not comparative in anyway to a P60. Here’s an image front on:

I’ve just asked my local dealer for some more information

edit: appears the image won’t upload. Link:

That’s not current, that’s voltage. 8.4V, which is voltage of two fully charged Li-Ion’s (2x 4.2V).

I’ve just asked my local dealer if he can do a tail cap measure. It’s advertised at 7A

Steep at $300.00

O.K, my local dealer has confirmed the reflector size is 4.5cm (diameter) by 5cm deep. Tail cap draw 5.3A on 2 x full charged 26650 batteries, he things around 8-9A to the emitter?

I’ll see if it has an aspheric lense and how it compares for throw against the trustfire X6

If that’s the case, the TF X100 would be quite a bit better. (of course that bugger is also quite a bit bigger and uglier but i guess much cheaper)

Tempting what do you guys think?

O.k, this one doesn’t have an aspherix lense. According to my dealer it’s better built than the trustfire X6, brighter and more floodier, and obviously not as throwy.

“If that’s the case, the TF X100 would be quite a bit better. (of course that bugger is also quite a bit bigger and uglier but i guess much cheaper)”

Really depends on what you want, I liken this thing to a monster version of a shadow JM07 pro. It’s not a monster thrower or flooder, but somewhere in between, an all-round monster light if you like. And perhaps a little unique, as there ins’t much else like it on the market and very hard to find.

This Taobao dealer (not the dealer I’m dealing with) as per link has it for $108, not cheap, but not super expensive like the dragonfly
