Review: Trustfire Mini-01

I have not even received my first one yet and I feel like ordering another. I almost know I will get a kick over this little light.

I broke down and ordered one from the eBay seller. I think it was $14.40 shipped. Anyone else buy from him? If so, how long to receive?

was it from trading_one?

Mine was from trading_one. Took 3-4 weeks to Ireland.

3 - 4 weeks delivery is nothing but painful for us flashaholics!!

It was rray009. http://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/e11400.m1842.l3160/7?euid=d51979e878c44474a3eae2534e5ae1ee&loc=http%3A%2F%2Fcgi.ebay.com%2Fws%2FeBayISAPI.dll%3FViewItem%26item%3D150866341110%26ssPageName%3DADME%3AL%3AOC%3AUS%3A3160

It sure is

Mine was ordered from trading_one also. The long wait is indeed torture.

mine only draws 1.08 Amps on high , and 0.24 Amps on low , on a freshly new charged Trustfire Flame 16340 …and I’ve also connected a new Hi-Max 18650, 2600 mAh to the mini-01 , and the same thing , it draws around 1 - 1.05 Amps on high …

I can’t complain because it’s a lot of light for this little thingie … but it would have been nice to have a tiny monster, with double the output…

So , the question is…only mine draws ~ 1 Amp on high ?

How do I go about testing the current draw of my mini-01? I have a multimeter.

Cheers
Matt

Hi Matt!

It’s very easy , set the DMM like in the picture, hold the head of the flashlight , put the 16340 (RCR123A - CR123A) in , connect the black lead to the flat end of the battery (-) , and slide the red lead between the body and the battery to touch the outer ring of the flashlights circuit board, and that’s it , the DMM should show you how much Amps does you’re flashlight draw…

Thanks for the help, I’ll give it a go and post my results.

Cheers
Matt

Here’s my current draw results for the Mini-01

Trustfire primary - Low 0.08A, High 0.8A

Surefire primary - Low 0.06A, High 0.75A

Ultracell 3.2v LifeP04 - Low 0.1A, High 1A

AW 3.2v LifeP04 - Low 0.13A, High 1.09A

Yezl 3.7v 16340 - Low 0.25A, High 2.4A

This explains the brightness and hand burning heat when using the Yezl cell

Edit: I have just tested the Mini-01’s current draw on 2 different 18650 cells.

Senybor 3100mAh(Panasonic) protected - Low 0.27A, High 2.55A

Panasonic GCR18650CH - Low 0.30A, High 2.9A

Thank you Matt for the readings… it seems that I have a faulty one.
hmmm…

Anyone else has a mini-01 that draws only 1 Amps in High mode on 16340 ?

Is it possible that the Trustfire flame isn’t capable of delivering any more current, rather than the light being faulty, because your readings are very similar to mine, except for the Yezl cell?

yeah, but don’t forget that trustfire flame is 4.2 fully charged , and I’ve also tested the mini-01 with Hi-Max 18650 cells which deliver a good 5 Amps on my Trustfire TR-J12 …

Yeah not sure to be honest. Have you any other cells to try?

I get
.08 and .85 on the original Trustfire CR123A
.11 and .98 on SOshine RCR-123 protected.

But my cheap DMM leads read low compared with better wire…
I need to make up some better leads.

Thanks for testing your Mini-01.
Hopefully some other people can test theirs too.
