All participants to the Olympics are winners to my eyes. I congratulate them all, especially those that managed with minimal funding, support and means. I admire them the most.
On the other hand i can clearly see a loser: This very Olympic Spirit which has been dead some decades now -and this is very sad. O tempora o mores…
Anybody who is there and truly enjoying their events. There was a blond German girl in gymnastics who just really impressed me. I don’t know her name but I marveled at how much she seemed to be enjoying doing her routine. Not the mask of smiles before starting, not the joy from winning . . but the joy from doing the best one can regardless of one event’s result at one moment in time.
So many of the athletes don’t seem to be having that kind of enjoyment, but IMO being excellent while also having that level of enjoyment from the process makes one a winner.
Man, that one hit my funny bone DEEEEEEP. I’m LMAO!!! That’s why he is so fast. His coach puts a shark in the pool with him. OMG Seriously, what Phelps has done is epic. So if the question (not sure what the Question is) is who is the greatest Olympian/winner…………Hands down Michael Phelps!
Ok, just dont become stalker
For me also the winner would be who gets more fun from the games (after China, China is reall winner and some coutnries, forbidden to mention i negative context, are loosers )
I think among women volleyball players there is much collectivity and I dont know, it seems like that, women are most times better than men in some qualities, more patient, tolerant etc
What irritates me heavily around sports that it is given much more attention (media, financial etc) than it objectively deserves. In some countries more so than others. Also, what irritates me next about it, are totally stupid statements of people around sports (journalists, players themselves, coaches, audience). Sometime they talk about so simple things like they are, I dont know, important philosophical questions or something of outmost importance in our lives.
I mean, retirement system shattered, healthcare on low levels, education not good, children go to poor schools, older folk die in bad retirement homes without enough care, and there is more talk about sport than all of these areas together.
For me thats more than stupid.
