A U2 binned XM-L is roughly 6-7% brighter than a T6 when all other things are equal. The U2 is slightly more efficient.
The xm-l’s are binned based on output at 700 mA; e.g., output for a t6 at 700 mA is 280 lm min, whereas a u2 puts out a min of 300 lm at the same current.
At least, that’s my understanding.

I love my gold fandyfire. Changing the colour and upgrading to u2’s in no way inspires me to buy another one. But adding more modes? I’ve had this flashlight for about two weeks… I’d be tempted 
A King with U2 would be a welcome upgrade to my T6 Fandyfire version. I actually prefer the hi-Lo mode with hidden strobe.
I rather have the gold color than black, too. Although silver would be great.
I have 2 kings already. Not interested further more!
I think it’s great of Ric to provide this service to us, and charge the same price as the gold version (for NW at least)
with the added bonus of a custom logo for free! Nothing to complain about really, buy one if you want/need one,
if not then just pass on it.
Now if only Ric would reply to this thread, I’m sure there are many waiting for a reply before pulling the trigger!

Anyone else having trouble viewing the picture?
To my understanding there's no picture at all. This is a pre-production pre-order and the actual black ones have not been produced yet, so there's nothing to take a pic of!

I can’t order a light with modes and mode arrangement still “pending”. Where are you Ric?
We can only hope that Ric is holding off on replies until he checks with his supplier about some of the items on our wish list. I don’t think he originally expected us not to jump on this with nothing other than a new color and U2 emitters. Most of us who would be interested in a king already have one and it will take more than a color change to invest in another one. Hopefully he is taking us seriously about better mode selection.
I don’t know for certain, but I’d bet that Ric read my recent poll regarding member interest in a black King.
82% of respondents indicated certain conditions must be met before they’d even consider buying one. Only 18% said they would buy one without conditions. The assumption going in was that it’d simply be a black version of the already existing gold model.
Anyway, I think that’s why RIC’s site says they’re only producing an initial batch of 199.
