List of XP-G,1AA,multi-mode, current controlled, strobeless lights for under 35 $ shipped

I am searching my next 1AA light, but I am pretty much set on what I want.

XP-G Emitter (neutral tint preferred)

current controlled driver, or PWM driver with a real high frequency (>1kHz) on med and low

multi-mode (3 or more) but no strobes (or really well hidden).

price+shipping has to be under 35$ (customs reasons)

Candidates so far:

Xeno E03 (purchase link + review) about 33$ shipped or maybe even 28.88 $

Mr. Lite LT2 (purchase link + review of the old XR-E R2 edition + LT3 (123) XP-G R5 review from Don ) 26.50 $ but may have slow PWM

Are there other candidates?

Mr. Lite LT2 Triangular Shape Cree R5 3-mode LED Flashlight (1*AA/14500) @ Manafont - $26,50 (free shipping)

Here you have Don's review of his 9 modes, Cr123/RCR123 Mr. Lite LT3 version.

A PWM on the low mode of 280 Hz according to the old review of the XR-E version, I wonder if that will be detectable or not. I have just seen that my Maratac AAA has 200 Hz which is easily detectable.

Added the light to the candidates list, thanks.

You can get the Xeno E03 for $28.88 including shipping

You can choose the Emitter

CREE XP-G 1B R5,CoolWhite:to get max output and fit for warm, hot area and season.
CREE XP-G 3C R5 Neutral White(Outdoor White): for better color rendering.
CREE XP-E 7B Q3,WarmWhite:the best choice for the dark-night of Winter.

How about the ultrafire u20 and review

Hmm, 1 SKU for 9 flashlights from a so far unknown vendor... I think I wait for some more feedback , but thanks.

This one has 2 modes and a strobe, rejected. ;-)

I asked a support center about those $2,27 they add per order (so finnaly it should be $31,15 and not $28,88)

That's what they replied: (will quore only that part)

BTW, it's not my first mail, and I have to say that they provide the fastest support I've ever seen (I mean I had to wait less than 30 mins, really impressive)

Maybe you can consider:

WF-502B CREE Q5 5 Mode $14.38

CREE Q3 18650 Battery + Charger $14.46

You might want to wait a little bit to see if we can swing this next custom BLF flashlight, it's looking like we might be using the Farka E09 as a base which is almost identical to the Xeno E03, just without the finger marks.

Actually I just noticed that the E09 doesn't have the finger marks, and that makes it much more attractive to me.

I already have a 18650 light with Solarfarce L2 host and KD XM-L dropin. Additionally the majority of P60 dropins (including Solarforce) have a horrible PWM frequency on med and low, which I dislike more and more. So current regulated or PWM frequency > 1kHz is key to me. But thanks for the suggestion. (I should really update my sig ;-) )

I have seen this new project, but the focus of the comments seem to be directed to LiIon (14500, 18650) with some sort of programmable driver to get the mode setup that the people want. Most available multi-mode driver are not current regulated but PWM driven... and most of them have a PWM of 100-300 Hz, which is like a really fast strobe to me. Most people say that the main host has to be nice, but I say the driver has to be perfect because there are not many available alternatives (especially for 1AA) ... even when you are able to solder. The driver is the only thing that really sets the brand lights apart from the budget lights, in my opinion. (Think Zebralight, Nitecore, Fenix...) If I could get a Hugsby P32 with XP-G R5 neutral , Zebra UI, really high PWM or CR for under 35$ .... I would praise the flashlight-god. ;-)

Finger Marks are like.. Le Ugly... I vote for the E09 - the built quality is very very good for its price bracket, Dare say best for this price. Ill wait for the BLF light!

I could even live with the finger grooves, if I get current regulation in return.

Beauty is within... like the driver board of a torch ;)

I believe I remember reading that the E03 has a "linear regulator". Its very vague, And I haven't been able to confirm what it is on CPF. The words linear rings bells, interms of runtime on low outputs. Other thing I dont like about the E03 is that is has a really pretty heatsink, is very nice IMO, but on the Wrong end of the torch..GAH.. Really really annoys me, more than the finger grooves. *might have figured by now that I like the look of functional heatsinks* Torches in this day and age Need real heatsinks, Period.

Not sure about the driver in the E09 though, I recall that it might be PWM.

I still haven't seen many torches with more than a few days runtime. Even the supposedly current controlled sunwayman V10R has massive measured circuit overheads of 25mA. Cutting runtimes down to a day, and providing no value in running low outputs. It has a really pretty heatsink though!

from the 1st purchase link I posted : 6) Linear driver — no PWM

I don't need current regulation for runtime but to be sure that I don't get pseudo blinky modes disguised as medium and low modes.

So finnaly have ordered Xeno from BIO. Looks like it have very similar CR driver, like Fenix (see selfbuilt review). Anyway, could be a great gift as it cames with a pretty tin box (manual, spare O-rings, etc.)

Oh, very good ... will you make a small review or some kind of first impressions?... I would highly appreciate it.

Which color and tint did you chose and how did you tell BIO what you want?

Yep, very nice support  I spoke with Kiko Ho. He/she (really don't know, lol  ) told me that he/she will deal with my order and shop the right one. I chose NW in black.

About the small review... I can do it, yeah, but I think selfbuilts review is much better and full of details

Selfbuilt did a review of the Xeno on the other board - it's definitely a current-controlled and not PWM controlled driver.

I know about Selfbuilts review ... I posted the link in post #1 ... but I would like a budget-perspective. ;-)
