More money than sense - Unbelievable

Ok don't leave us hanging here you can confess it's sunday .. you went on a spending spree buying ?? what kind of light ?? The silly thing is ..Everyone here is guilty of doing the exact same thing ..tell me Who NEEDS a collection of lights and why ? Nobody so we are ALL calling the kettle black ...One thing I find a little funny is ,I invite my friends over to play with my lights ..supposedly so they can touch understand feel and know what different lights feel like..I would love to be able to go into a flashlight store and test drive 50 of their lights .Maybe take a few home for a day or so and just get a feel for them ...maybe I'm just too damn critical but the majority of my lights .Really need to be replaced with new ones to get closer to that ultimate light ...Now I agree that a guy with six 800 $ lights not being satisfied doesn't make anyone feel sorry for him ,But his feelings are probably just like mine .I wonder why someone thinks that someone who has 45 flashlights that cost 30$.. Is really much different than someone else who might have 30 at an average of 15 $ ...What does it look to a person who thinks a flashlight shouid cost 4$ and everyone should have 3 of them.

Hey, let's not be too hard on this guy. He is doing his part to get the economy going. Also, when/if he decides to sell, someone is likely to get a great deal on those lights as he won't be looking to get every last cent out of them.

Oh boy! Been there, done that. I'm like that with the L2P's/triples! One and/or two of each tint but they get used and that's how I stay in denia... oops, I mean under control!

Definitely with you on your comments!

It was nothing to compare to the 30K$ fellow, except perhaps for the compulsive nature of the purchases. I started with an iTP A1 SS and then noticed the Q Mini 123 in Ti. Then I had to have the all of the Q Minis in Ti. Then in Al. Then the regular Quarks, the Turbo 123^2 in Al and Satin and of course the G5. While waiting for these to arrive I read about Peaks and found out that some come in Brass! Must resissssst...

Isn't it incredible the compulsions you get? I'm the same way... I got a G5 in a trade and it is nice! Great thrower with a real waker-upper strobe.

Then he comes out with more lights and the 1st thought is: Get one of each!! I put the emergency brake on that fast so the runaway train in my mind screeched to a juddering halt!

Yes, and I must be ever watchful. The lure of the copper & gold S12 almost got me - I ordered it from the .pl web site because the US site was sold out. It was only when they emailed me back asking for another 40 euros for courier shipping that I came to my senses and canceled the order. I'm starting to understand that flashaholism actually exists, for me at least.

I must have it too, having just purchased my fifth ultra-budget $2 'BLF Delight'! Must go and see a shrink before this gets out of control!!!

LOL I think we all have it to a certain degree so I guess we'll be seeing each other at the shrink's office or where Don works.

I must have it too, having just purchased my fifth ultra-budget $2 'BLF Delight'! Must go and see a shrink before this gets out of control!!! Surprised

WOW 2 bucks ??? ha ha ... you over paid ..You should have held out for the ones for 1.38... that is a newbie mistake if i ever heard one ....some people got no respect for money ...5 x.62= 3.10$ wasted .. time to get your priorities in check. Think of how much beer that could have bought.CryCryCry

Around here? A single bottle of ultra-budget. Seriously, this is a little insane.

Actually my latest purchase was US$1.28 + Postage: US$0.99 = US$2.27 for the ‘MXDL 3W LED AAA Battery Pen Flashlight Lamp Torch 7119’ that you recomended. (All this high finance talk is making my brain sore but my beer money is safe I think ) Does your $1.38 include postage?

My KD C8 XM-L is the first and last LED "torch" I'll ever want. My TF R5-A3 is the last EDC I'll ever want. The only thing I really want to get to complete my *needs* is a headlight, and a bikelight with quickly/easily removable mount.

I'm going to upgrade my MiniMag and Brinkmann for use on my boat. And *maybe* the only other thing I'll add down the road is an LED flooder for camping and vehicle repair. Switching out any dead interior lights in vehicles, etc.

I'm glad in that I'm *completely* satisfied and actually happy in that I can have just one thing for a purpose (or multiple purposes) that isn't just more than adequate, but completely blows away anything else that anyone has (that i've seen so far) around here capable of usefulness for the task at hand... and that I paid a fraction of the price they did in many cases.

Believe it or not, my new bathroom lighting was NOT LED, by choice. :P 4x 10 watt CFL, in smoked bulbs, and it's actually borderline too bright at that. I'm glad it takes 2 minutes to come up to brightness in the morning. ;)

(p.s. sorry for the bump)

Thanks for the bump, I wouldn't take this too serious.

If someone has earned enough money, he or she may well spend it for whatever he or she likes. If it is tons of flashlights, then be it. To each their own...

Still, spending that amount on flashlights is indeed a bit loco. Blatant consumerism at its best.

I feel sorry for the guy to be honest.

He has thrown $30,000 towards lights and still isn't satisfied? I think he needs a new hobby.

New emitters come and go, there will always be a more powerful/efficient emitter around the corner. To think this guy has dumped this excessive amount of money in the space of 6 months, is just plain nuts.

There is zero jealously here with me, as I wrote in my first sentence; I just feel sorry for the guy.

6 McGizmo LS20's...... those don't have powerful emmiters. Those are CPF history, from one of the most brilliant custom makers on there. But he has multiple other hobbies: cars, boats, knifes...... yeah. And when you think about it, its a lot easier to blow 30k on cars.

Cars? That much can be blown on engines alone...

Exactly. So this guy thinks its small change to spend 30k on a bunch of flashlights.

I'd be embarrased - NOT because of my weath, NOT because I bought what I wanted, but for bragging about my extravagance in terms of dollars and cents. Such statements can be a view into the heart of the individual. If I were that wealthy, I hope that I'd at least be modest about it, and make charitable donations at least as much as the worth of my flashlight collection. $30K can be the difference between life and death for some people.
